Life's gone haywire. Obviously. And to add to the fun, the creatures around here provide their own form of unadulterated entertainment. There was this awesome war/battle/judgment day level thing that happened right at the entrance of my hostel. These weird ants, at some stage of their growth get wings and stuff and they go nuts, lose their common sense if they ever had it in the first place, and they swarm towards all sources of light. So, when I walked into the hostel on that particular night (2 am i think), there was this entire battalion of these stupid ant things, and there were about 10-15 frogs on the floor. Those frogs were completely intoxicated (imagine me in front of a gigantic vegetarian feast) and they just sat there, shooting

their tongues out in every direction, completely feasting on the stupid ant things. I stood there for a few minutes, transfixed by the glory of the one-sided battle. Then I stopped behaving like one of those stupid ant things and brought out my cam. Took a few shots, even though I was getting those icky stupid ant things sitting on my shirt. Sheesh, it was insane. Those frikkin' frogs were bloating up like hell. I mean, they didn't give a shite about their waistline. They were just gobbling up each and every one of those stupid ant things that came withing striking range. They themselves

were covered with stupid ant things. Next morning, under every visible tubelight in my hostel there were millions of wings belonging to the deceased stupid ant things lying around. The sweepers went home with the worst backache they could have expected. And the frogs didn't appear for a few days. I bet their tummies got so screwed, food wouldn't cross their one track minds for a few days.

Messed up most of the shots I took because I left the camera on manual mode, using the settings I had used for the last shot (the one with the drop).

All the brownish stuff you see in the background consists of stupid ant

things flying around, wings of dead stupid ant things, pieces of stupid ant

things scattered after a frog duel, and regurgitated bits of stupid ant things. The frog in the forefront is one of the smallest I saw that day.

A self portrait and self reminder that surrendering my fears and embracing life's ever-changing flow can lead to magic falling right into my fingertips... magic I never would have expected or dreamed of.

Fun fact: This log was a beast to get to for this photo! The rocks were soooo slippery with slime and algae, I had to crawl (more like slither) along them, fingers clinging to any crack or grippy surface I could find, trying not to slip all the way into the water for an icy swim... needless to say, the poor white dress was not white anymore by the time I reached the log and climbed up. Thank goodness for photoshop's slime n' grime-ridding magical powers! 😉

"If we are to be who we are, if we are to accomplish great things, then we must learn the heart's most essential rule: NEVER SURRENDER DREAMS"

- J. Michael Straczynski

The rendering of your emotional highway has no barriers?

what do your deepest fears cross and encounter?

is there cherishment upon the way that feeds your heart?

picking moments with which the Soul is eaten, in part

is it the deliverer, the healer, the persecutor impart

smoothly surfaced into the light of day passing

a room, destiny, space, in time, rivers flowing

still in mind, awakening the emotive checklist of strife

recording movements and controlling daily schedules

watching every living matter, is this what you call life??

bear in mind what you simply cannot bear to face

with eyes closed, the entitled apparition becomes real

a chest note unspoken, which designs a noted bas-relief

filled with emotional spirit and natural purulency

go beyond the norm, look further afield, inherit more belief

taking your hand, reinvigorating this life shared

second to none and afraid no more, seize the willowed moment!

behold the veranda of opportunity and purest veracity

entering such a thalamus of hidden and untold dreams

here we feel the world in our hands within plentiful capacity

there is no wrong in a oneness of love, a oneness of spirit

where Nature is present, life abounds in surviving heartbeats

theurgic possibilities astride hermetic touches advancing

where breaths become deeper and silently longing

forever becomes the present of predestined-eternity's glancing

we are the insight of ourselves when open to heavenly calling

into our destiny we strive purely, future surrendered today

as the past catches up with the forgiveness of time itself

we're bold enough to go where our resistance never dared step

a shell of time, and only time will tell where we may tread ourself

are we to remain in fate's shadow, or shall we reflect glory -

on our own offering of light and illumination unto our present?

leaving a prosaic society aside, let your spirit touch it's potential

realise and embrace it, share and reach the four corners of your soul

such propensity of jubilant goodness within every heart existential.

Battleship Texas is the last remaining battleship that participated in both World War I and World War II. Over her service life, the Navy repeatedly outfitted the ship with cutting edge technology. Fate spared Battleship Texas as she fought in two wars. Now she is fighting for survival against age and rust.

Powerful weapon

ship launch_800p.jpegLaunching the ship in 1912 (TPWD-Battleship Texas Archives)

The U.S. Navy com-mis-sioned USS Texas on March 12, 1914. She was the most powerful weapon in the world, a complex product of an industrial nation emerging as a force in global events.

In 1916, USS Texas became the first U.S. battleship to mount anti-aircraft guns. She was also the first to control gunfire with directors and range-keepers. These early computers increased firing accuracy.

In World War I, USS Texas joined the 6th Battle Squadron of the British Grand Fleet early in 1918. Her duties included laying a North Sea mine barrage, responding to German High Seas Fleet maneuvers, and helping prevent enemy naval forces from cutting off Allied supply lines.

Late in 1918, she escorted the German Fleet to its surrender anchorage.

Retooled ship

In 1925, the Navy opted to modernize USS Texas instead of scrapping her. This meant con-vert-ing the ship to run on fuel oil instead of coal. Tripod masts and a single stack replaced the ship’s cage masts and two smoke stacks. Torpedo blisters added another layer of protection to the ship’s waterline.

USS Texas received one of the first radars in the U.S. Navy in 1939. With new anti-aircraft guns, fire control and communication equipment, the ship remained an aging but powerful asset in the U.S. naval fleet.

World War II

USS Texas became flagship of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet before World War II. She had a close call in 1941 while on "Neutrality Patrol.” German Submarine U-203 had the ship in its sights and asked permission to fire. Adolf Hitler eventually denied permission to engage the ship, or any other U.S. ship.

Fate spared the battleship again when Japanese forces bombed Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941: She was safe in Maine. The United States entered World War II soon after.

During the war, USS Texas fired on Nazi defenses in Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Shortly afterward, German coastal defense artillery near Cherbourg hit the ship twice. The first shell exploded, injuring 12 and killing one. This was the only combat fatality ever aboard USS Texas. The second shell hit the ship, but did not explode. The Navy deactivated this “lucky shell” and returned it to the ship as a good luck charm.

After repairs, the battleship shelled Nazi positions in Southern France before transferring to the Pacific. There she lent gunfire support and anti-aircraft fire to the landings on Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Final mission

Berthing the ship_800p.jpgTugboats bring the battleship to her final resting place in 1948 (TPWD-Battleship Texas Archives).

After Japan’s surrender, USS Texas carried soldiers stationed across the Pacific home from war.

When she completed her final mission, the state of Texas acquired the ship. On April 21, 1948, Battleship Texas was decom-missioned, and became a memorial ship.

Today, Battleship Texas is a floating museum and the last remaining U.S. battleship of her kind. She stands as a memorial to the bravery and sacrifice of the servicemen who fought in both world wars.

The battleship is both a National Historic Landmark and a National Mechanical Engineering Landmark. Ensuring her future will require a concerted effort from Texas citizens and businesses. Luck has gotten her this far, but now it’s up to Texans to save Battleship Texas.

Taken this morning after having to leave my house at 2.45 to get there in time for a sunrise. No sunrise but got some lovely mist which hung around just long enough to fire off a few shots before it was burnt away by the rising temperature.

Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War. Of quadrangular plan, Bodiam Castle has no keep, having its various chambers built around the outer defensive walls and inner courts. Its corners and entrance are marked by towers, and topped by crenellations. Its structure, details and situation in an artificial watery landscape indicate that display was an important aspect of the castle's design as well as defence. It was the home of the Dalyngrigge family and the centre of the manor of Bodiam.

Possession of Bodiam Castle passed through several generations of Dalyngrigges, until their line became extinct, when the castle passed by marriage to the Lewknor family. During the Wars of the Roses, Sir Thomas Lewknor supported the House of Lancaster, and when Richard III of the House of York became king in 1483, a force was despatched to besiege Bodiam Castle. It is unrecorded whether the siege went ahead, but it is thought that Bodiam was surrendered without much resistance. The castle was confiscated, but returned to the Lewknors when Henry VII of the House of Lancaster became king in 1485. Descendants of the Lewknors owned the castle until at least the 16th century.

By the start of the English Civil War in 1641, Bodiam Castle was in the possession of John Tufton. He supported the Royalist cause, and sold the castle to help pay fines levied against him by Parliament. The castle was subsequently dismantled, and was left as a picturesque ruin until its purchase by John Fuller in 1829. Under his auspices, the castle was partially restored before being sold to George Cubitt, 1st Baron Ashcombe, and later to Lord Curzon, both of whom undertook further restoration work. The castle is protected as a Grade I listed building and Scheduled Monument. It has been owned by The National Trust since 1925, donated by Lord Curzon on his death, and is open to the public.

Bathed in morning splashes of sunlight, a deteriorating barn reveals it has given up the fight. We face many battles in life, some fought successfully, others not. But in the end, we all surrender to the Inevitable.

we made a promise we swore we'd always remember

When you see the glory

There is nothing else to do

Than surrender

What does she mean by the "glory", you might ask

Of course she is rambling around again

About love

Love is immensely big

It is the greatest there is

The love you receive

The love you may give

What a gift

Have you ever been able to bathe in love?

I have

It's a precious gift I received from a loved one

You know, we all should

Think about the world we want to pass on to our children

We want only the best for them

Please don't you ever give up hope for love

Because

It will win

How could we even survive without love

We wouldn't

We would perish

Love you, you know 💜
