“Unconditional Surrender,” a tribute to the photo V-J Day in Times Square, has been in San Diego’s Embarcadero Marina Park since January 2006. The 25' statue, located next to the popular tourist destination, U.S.S. Midway, will be disassembled either Feb. 28 or 29 by The Sculpture Group, which owns the traveling piece of art.

On a quiet morning, a small butterfly landed on a fading wildflower. The petals had seen better days, their white crown slowly surrendering to time, yet they still offered a place to rest.
For a moment, neither hurried. The flower held on to its last bloom, and the butterfly paused between where it had been and where the wind would carry it next.
Nature has a way of reminding us that beauty doesn’t belong only to beginnings. Sometimes it lives in the pauses, in the worn edges, and in the gentle moments before moving on.
