Douglas College support staff were on a one day strike in support of a fair and reasonable deal on November 14, 2012.
All Douglas College New Westminster campus classes were cancelled. The monetary offer on the table for support staff at Douglas College was half what support staff at other post secondary institutions have settled for.
Douglas College is the seventh largest post secondary institution in British Columbia, with 4,700 full-time and 10,000 part-time students for the 2011-12 school year.
There are 304 Douglas College support staff represented by the BCGEU. They work at registration, in IT services, as library assistants, at the bookstore, in student services, and offer financial aid to students.
Antony Cowburn, a Royal Engineers veteran completed an incredible 500 mile fund-raising walking challenge in aid of Sapper Support, carrying the Armed Forces Flag. There was a short service followed by the raising of the flag. It was also Antony's birthday so The Decadettes sung happy birthday to him!
Saturday 18th June and Sunday 19th June were the Weymouth Armed Forces Day. It was on a smaller scale than normal due to COVID but it was wonderful have an event and clearly all those who attended were delighted to see it go ahead. The weekend has been organised by Weymouth Town Council and the Mayor, Cllr Colin Huckle was in attendance.

Somalia Ministry of Health with support from Africa Field Epidemiology Training Network (AFENET), World Health Organization (WHO) and US Centre for Disease Control have launched the training of frontline health workers to strengthen public health preparedness and response
The aim of FETP is to strength the countries public health workforce and health systems in basic epidemiology, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation and response to public health events
The first cohort comprises of 26 health workers from Federal Ministry and state level ministries of health will be conducted for a period of 12 weeks comprising of 20% class work and 890% of field work at their workstations.
The health system in Somalia is weak and fragmented resulting from political and civil unrest in addition to multiple hazards that makes the country highly prone to epidemic prone diseases.
The front line FETP will build capacity of frontline health workers to respond to public health emergencies in a timely manner across Somalia

The 31st Combat Support Hospital pharmacy team provides pharmaceutical support to patients suffering from injuries and illnesses throughout the ARCENT area of operations.
