National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from the D.C.-based 33rd Civil Support Team and the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team trained together April 7, 2015, at the Fairfax County Urban Search and Rescue Training Site, Lorton, Va. The two-day exercise brought together the two teams as well as firefighters from Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. Both units can identify chemical, biological, and radiological substances, assess current and projected consequences, advise an incident commander on response measures, and assist with requests for additional state support. The CSTs are federally resourced, trained and sustained and operates under the control of state leadership. The Adjutant General of each state or territory may employ the CST to support the state response under the direction of the governor or to support another state’s response under a supported governor. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell signs a Statement of Support for the National Guard and Reserve Jan. 18 in Richmond flanked by Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Roger Trout of the Virginia Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The Statement of Support confirms that Governor McDonnell joins other employers "in pledging to fully recognize, honor and enforce the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act, ensure that managers and supervisors will have the tools they need to effectively manage those employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve and that Virginia will continually recognize and support our country’s service members and their families in peace, in crises and in war". Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service by advocating relevant initiatives, recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of applicable laws, and resolving conflict between employers and service members. Long lost from pubic view there are dozens of these caryatids that once supported the Victorian roof of teh Exchange in Bristol. After war damage a new roof was inserted and teh fine quality carvings dissipeared behind an open roof. They are still in remarkably good condition having survived teh elements since then.

On Wednesday April 29, 2015, over 350 seniors attended the annual Senior Wine and Cheese Fundraising event. The proceeds from the event go towards a scholarship for a future Wesleyan student, in honor of the class of 2015. If passed, Referendum 71 will uphold Washington state's "everything but marriage" domestic partnership law, which was passed by the state Senate in March, passed by the state House in April, and signed into law by Governer Gregoire in May of 2009.
It shouldn't even be on the ballot. Why is it OK to put people's civil rights up for a vote? But it is on the ballot, so if you live in Washington state, please vote to approve it.

Premier Jason Kenney announced, in Bowden, Alberta on Friday, August 6, 2021, the next wave of support for agricultural producers facing extraordinary costs this summer.
Drought-stricken livestock producers will be eligible for millions of dollars in financial relief and will benefit from new rangeland initiatives that will improve access to water grazing.
The Government of Alberta is making $136 million available under the AgriRecovery program, a joint program between the governments of Alberta and Canada, and has asked the federal government to provide an additional $204 million for a total relief package of $340 million.
The federal government is currently evaluating this request and earlier today announced $100 million in immediate relief for Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta. Programming costs are split 60-40 between the provincial and federal governments.
This funding would provide much-needed financial support and immediate cash flow for Alberta’s livestock producers and beekeepers to purchase feed, water and fencing, if approved.
In addition, Alberta Environment and Parks has approved several temporary changes to grazing and water regulations to open new sources of feed for livestock.
“Alberta’s government will always stand behind our farmers and ranchers. They have endured an exceptionally difficult year because of drought conditions and I am pleased that we are able to provide this relief and support to help them get through this time. These hard-working Albertans are always there for us. We owe it to them to be there when they need us.” said the Premier.

usually whenever I go to an art fair I look for big vases to store big spindles and support spindles. The vase in the back was a gift from my dad in-law.
lately my love of support spindle has grown exponentially, so they kind of need their own home. Due to summer graduate school I couldn't attend a lot of art fair this summer. Last Monday, hubby and I went to Dakota county fair to visit my submission to the fair. I won 2 blue ribbons under handspun category for both handspun yarn and handspun shawl. We also tried a homemade root beer thus the can from Bayou Billy. The vendor is there every year this is the first year we try it. We loved the taste. Not too sweet as some commercially made root beer.
So now the can is being used as a home for the support spindles. I put rice inside to help keep the support spindles stand.

What an incredible and exciting event this was! Thank you for all the support offered to these survivors, as well as the ones who were unable to attend for health reasons. Each and every one of us make a huge difference in the lives surrounding us.

This exquisite 1.6 ounce (44grams) moose antler Tibetan support spindle has been intricately carved by Dave with his signature leaf and rose motif. The whorl measures 1 5/8 inches in diameter, and the cocobolo shaft is 10 1/2 inches in length.
Our originally designed support spinning bowl combines the efficiency of a ceramic surface with the stability of a wide beautiful wooden base. The ceramic bowl measures 1 3/4 inches in diameter, and the gorgeous cocobolo wooden base is 2 3/4 inches in diameter. Cork has been added to the bottom of this bowl to keep the wood from scratching other hard surfaces.
