Day eighty-three/365. I could never be a librarian. I would not be satisfied to study library science. I'm a big-picture person. I like putting things into perspective, not placing details in order. I'm glad we have detail-oriented people because I'd rather not be doing that kind of work!
But, though I could never be a librarian, I thank God for them. Despite the quiet and conservative stereotype, librarians are the first to cry out against censorship. Librarians are on the front line of community leaders who want the public to think for itself, and not to accept just any philosophy fed to us by people in authority. Critical thinking!
I don't know who owns this magnet, but I like it. The library is more than meets the eye.

I was rehired about 3 days later and transfered to the sand and bulk cement hauling depatment - a much better job. Here I'm loading sand into a portable storage bin / conveyer called a Mountain Mover. This was a smaller version of the Mover that only held about 20-25 hundred sacks of sand.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. --- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District completed this $11 million Training Support Center in April 2011, which serves as a central location for all Army training aids, products and devices on Fort Bragg. Additionally, the 118,700 square-foot facility includes 12 training rooms where Soldiers use advanced video gaming technology for virtual weapons training (pictured). The sophisticated technology mimics real world battlefield scenarios and provides Soldiers with useful feedback for improving their accuracy and precision in weapons firing. With construction performed by North Carolina-based prime contractor Osborne Company, this project is the first warehouse facility of its type in the Army. Beams support exterior wall forms between two pontoons under construction.
Construction is complete on the second cycle of SR 520 bridge pontoons in Aberdeen. In this cycle, crews built six total pontoons:
• Three longitudinal pontoons (360 ft. x 75 ft. x 29 ft.)
• One cross pontoon (270 ft. x 75 ft. x 33 ft.)
• Two supplemental stability pontoons (98 ft. x 60 ft. x 28 ft.)

College of DuPage President Dr. Ann Rondeau and COD Cares volunteers packed care packages for deployed military personnel during a recent visit to Operation Support Our Troops -America in Lisle. About a dozen COD Action Heroes spent the morning packing much-needed comfort items to be sent to service members.

4 Engineer Support Regiment Commanding Offices Lieutenant Colonel (LCol) Jim Goodman talks to military members after a convoy of military vehicles just embarked from the Joseph and Clara Smallwood ferry at Argentia Newfoundland.
Approximatly 120 to 150 troops and 39 vehicles from 4 Engineer Support Regiment stationed at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, travelled to Newfoundland to help with bridge rebuilding and water purification for remote communities around the Avalon Peninsula.
The military was asked to assist with civil powers after Hurricane Igor kissed the southern shores of Newfoundland knocking out wide spead power and washing out numerous bridges with over 200mm of rain.

October 13, 2013 rally in Pittsburgh to show support for veterans. This corresponded by the Million Veteran March on Washington DC when the federal government decided during the government shut down that memorials should be closed and veterans turned away from visiting the very monuments dedicated to their sacrifices for our nation.

PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. - The 641st Regional Support Group, an Army Reserve logistics and transportation brigade based in St. Petersburg, Fla., conducted a Best Warrior Competition and Officer Challenge Jan. 24 at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla.
Both competitions took place during the final full day of Operation Responsive Sentinel, a sustainment training and disaster relief field exercise comprising approximately 20 units and 900 Soldiers. Resolve Sentinel's operational and tactical missions at Port Canaveral, Patrick AFB and the Air Force's Malabar Transmitter Annex offered numerous opportunities for the troops to apply their military and civilian skills to plan, organize and execute objectives on land and sea.
The Best Warrior Competition featured six enlisted Soldiers representing several companies and battalions attached to the 641st RSG. The half-dozen men and women faced off in a various warrior-oriented tasks ranging from a written exam and sergeants major interview board to a ruck march and a rifle and pistol qualification round.
The top two competitors will represent the 641st RSG in the 143d Sustainment Command
(Expeditionary)'s Best Warrior Competition planned for March 9-13 at Camp Blanding, Fla.
While specialists and sergeants shot, sang, ran and marched their way to the finish line, scores of junior officers formed at Patrick AFB's Education and Training Center to test their strength, dexterity, memory and morale in the 641st RSG's officer challenge. Teams of five officers competed at six unique
stations spread along a six-mile route. The challenge began with map reading and rank recognition events, continued with casualty evacuation scenario and a ethical dilemma, and concluded with a physical challenge and rifle marksmanship.

Added two strips of foam to the bottom of the hatch. This will be covered with carbon fibre and a layer of fiberglass. I hope this will give the hatch some extra strength and hopefully help it keep it's shape for a long time. I've read that hatches like this have a problem with keeping it's shape over time since the wood deforms as it ages. worst case scenario I'll just have to make carbon fiber hatches in the future.

There are lots of magnets made to look like looped pieces of ribbon that are fastened to motor vehicles here in Houston. By far the most common magnetic ribbon-emulating object is yellow and reads "Support Our Troops".

Units of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District responded a full-first alarm to a reported structure fire on Scarboro Place in San Ramon on March 17th, 2014. First due Engine 39 arrived and confirmed a working structure fire with smoke and flames showing and established Scarboro IC and requested all incoming units continue in Code 3. IC was taken over by Battalion 31 (3112) upon arrival on scene. The fire was out by the time I arrived on scene, but all apparatus (with the exception of Engine 32A) were still on scene. A second alarm was struck summoning more engines, more battalion units, and the Breathing Support Unit to the scene. Responding units included Trucks 31 and 35, Engines 34, 38, 32, 30, 39, Paramedic 39, Rescue Medic 31, Battalion 31, 3110, 3112, 3113, and Breathing Support 31.
Breathing Support 31 is a Hi-Tech SVI rescue rig built on a Spartan Gladiator chassis.
