I had some unexpected bad news this spring - I had to scrap my car! :(
It all started when my dad was driving me home with it - he was going to (finally!) take the snow tires off because the snow stopped falling. He noticed the clutch was slipping and would need to be replaced. I was bummed about that (my last car had close to double the km before I had to change the clutch - I was hoping to get another 50km or so before having to even worry about that). But when he was changing the tires, he discovered that the subframe was rotten in the front, and rotting in the back, too. He couldn't guarantee how long it would be okay to drive - it could have been fine for the rest of the summer, or I could hit a bump and it could be undrivable the next day. So I made the very sad decision to pull it from the road. It was extra sad because everything was still fine mechanically - the last times that I drove it, it still felt fine! :'(
I had my car for almost eleven years (here's my very first picture of it from August 2011). I'm going to get through the summer without one, and hopefully pick something newer up in the fall. :(
This was the last picture I took of it. My dad came and we pulled the plates and emptied it. Then I had it towed. :(

I did not have a good center point support so I fashioned this 3/4" rod end and clevis to allow for adjustment and strength.

Here's a look at the underside of the right sub frame, seeing where someone ran over something, or possibly lifted the car by the sub frame.
More noteworthy, and in it's entirely un-cleaned state, the rusting at the joint, where the corrosion from the battery migrated.

I reused the S13 subframe mount brace but had to use a spacer where it bolts to the body because the brace contacts the wider S14 subframe.
