You might think this would have been the celery farm house, but this mansion was moved here, too. It originally stood about a mile north of here and was built in 1846. At one time, it was the home of U.S. Senator Charles Stuart, who served the people of Michigan in the Senate between 1853 and 1859, an interesting time to have been a senator. He was on the side you'd have expected for a senator from Michigan, and he only left office when he did because he tried an unsuccessful run for Michigan governor.
A sign at the house says it was rumored to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad, but every historic building north of the Mason-Dixon Line makes that claim. I don't know what there is to back the house up on that.
