John McDouall Stuart (7 September 1815 – 5 June 1866) was one of the most accomplished and famous of all Australia's inland explorers.
Stuart led the first successful expedition to traverse the Australian mainland from south to north and return, and the first to do so from a starting point in South Australia, achieving this despite poor backing from the Government of South Australia. His experience and the care he showed for his team ensured he never lost a man, despite the harshness of the country he encountered.

As chief of Planning, Irwin Stuart was stellar while leading his team in securing critical resources for the COVID-19 response. Tasked to procure six shower and latrine trailers for mission start date of March 27, Irwin had all six trailers in place and fully mission operational one week ahead of schedule. A tougher task given to Stuart was to attain portable cooling units to allow transformation of Warhawk Gymnasium to contingency bed-down space. When contract requirements were received, Stuart took the challenge and had the portable cooling units awarded and installed in just two days! His outstanding achievements makes him one of 502d Civil Engineering Squadron's best. Truly a 502d ABW MVP.
