this series, Stuart Highway 0904, was taken on a journey from Port Augusta to Darwin, in April 2009.
This pic is a little north of Port Augusta.
The traveller will notice that animals are a preoccupation of sign-makers.
You may also note the lack of other road-users, and the sparse vegetation.

Stuart Range is probably the most beautiful place I've been to. I've been interested in it for a while. I would always see it looming over Ellensburg and Cle Elum when I go to work. The sheer scale of it from that far away is seriously impressive. Seeing it even closer, the scale gets even better. Truly best to see it in person.
The craziest part is that I barely scratched the surface. Many roads were too risky to travel, so I plan on returning. I didn't even see the main mountain itself!
