The most important men (including his children, who are now grown up, but I decided to post some pictures of them with daddy) in his life. John and Stu. Stu is believed to have been John's best and ultimate friend. Their bond was unerringly strong, due to the fact that they were both witty. Stuart died in 1962, when John was 21. His death affected John throughout his life.
Townsville from Mt Stuart - New Years Day 2016
Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. Adjacent to the central section of the Great Barrier Reef, it is in the dry tropics region of Queensland.[4] Townsville is Australia's largest urban centre north of the Sunshine Coast, with a 2014 population estimate of 178,649.
Considered the unofficial capital of North Queensland, Townsville hosts a significant number of governmental, community and major business administrative offices for the northern half of the state.
Popular attractions include "The Strand", a long tropical beach and garden strip; Riverway, a riverfront parkland attraction located on the banks of Ross River; Reef HQ, a large tropical aquarium holding many of the Great Barrier Reef's native flora and fauna; the Museum of Tropical Queensland, built around a display of relics from the sunken British warship HMS Pandora; The Townsville Sports Reserve; and Magnetic Island, a large neighbouring island, the vast majority of which is national park.

McCaig's Tower, nicely lit and delicately streaked with seagull shit!
John Stuart McCaig was a millionaire philanthropist from the Isle of Lismore, who had this tower built between 1897 and his death in 1902, as a monument to his family and to provide work for the local stonemasons during the winter months. It is a folly, so it serves no actual purpose other then to look nice. The drinking of alcohol is apparently prohibited in the tower under local by-laws - which is why there is nobody else in sight!

Fujichrome Sensia II ASA 200. Olympus XA2 Camera.
The M-5 Stuart was a light tank of WW2 fame. Though rather mobile it was hampered by very light armor and a small 37mm main gun. It was useful in the roles of reconnaissance and infantry support.
My new #harshbeautiful portrait of Stuart Lorimer - psychiatrist specialising in gender identity. He and husband David Gray were the very first to commission their portraits almost a decade ago now. This new double portrait marks a special anniversary!
The Bangor man in action at the Walter Rusk Memorial trial. These rock formations at the Leadmines were incredibly slippy and got worse as the day went on. Stuart made it look far too easy and he's a very good Moto-X rider as well.
Production photograph for The Infamous Brothers Davenport, which is currently running at Edinburgh's Royal Lyceum Theatre.
In a show full of baffling illusions and trickery, the setup for this scene was relatively straightforward: a smoke machine, a wind machine and a blue light. The result, however, is one of the most visually stunning images I've seen on a theatre stage. When I first saw it during a preview of the show - mouth open in awe - I felt the thrill of knowing that it was my job to photograph it, but also the fear that I wouldn't do it justice: that I'd miss the moment, or that I'd fail to deal properly with the overwhelmingly blue light which, as any photographer of performance knows, is all too easy to do.
I'm very pleased, though. I feel that this shot in particular ranks among my best work, and is almost certainly the best photograph I've taken of a piece of theatre.
The Infamous Brothers Davenport is running at The Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh, and thereafter at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow and Eden Court Theatre in Inverness. Details, along with a trailer for the show, here: www.voxmotus.co.uk/davenport.php
