Stuart Highway, Coolalinga, Northern Territory

This is a new place that Greg Anderson showed me. It is located in Stuart, Fl. What a place, similar to Blowing Rocks/Coral Cove except larger.

This day was perfect as the clouds were great and tidal wave conditions were also ideal. I definitely plan to return to this place and continue exploring as there is much more.

It can be a mysterious place and and it is also very historical.

The rocks here can be about 7 or 8 feet and there are miles of them. Love Florida!!!.

This is a single file and I used a Singh Ray Polarizer and a 3 stop reverse GND filter.

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying the Christmas season.

As always, thanks for stopping by and looking, I appreciate your comments and critiques.

FSV 864 is a Volvo B11R/Sunsundegui SC7 new to Gobson Direct, Renfrew in June 2015.

On closure of the Gibson business, it joined the Stuarts of Carluke fleet and is seen here in Cumbernauld in between school contract duties. It has also been reregistered and is now carrying the FSV 864 cherished plate.

A bus that ended up back on Manchester's streets that wasn't a former PTE vehicle was ex Mayne LRJ213P, a 1976 Daimler Fleetline with Roe bodywork and one of five that were purchased new to replace AEC Regents.

This one had been sold to one of the Barnsley breakers, but as a complete bus was put up for resale. Ironically it was purchased by Stuarts of Hyde and ended up back onto Manchester's streets.

Apparently Mr Mayne wasn't best pleased at this and the last remaining one from the batch, LRJ210P, was given a light refurbishment, a repaint into the new livery, and soldiered on for a further two years.

This one had been given a replacement front from a West Midlands PTE Fleetline, subtly altering its appearance, and was seen at Piccadilly in October 1991.

Steyning is a town at the northern end of the Adur Gap through the South Downs.

The town dates back to Saxon times over 1,000 years ago.

The Parish Church, originally dedicated to St. Cuthman,

eventually became jointly dedicated to St. Andrew.

Nearby Bramber Castle was built following the Norman invasion and acted as a defence against invasion from

south or north through the Adur valley.

Trade and religious disputes soured the relationship between

Bramber and Steyning for several centuries.

In the 14th. Century the River Adur began to silt up causing

the loss of trade and population to both places.

In 1614, the Alderman of Chichester founded Steyning

Grammar School, in Church Street, just off the High Street.

This Jacobean building still stands today, but the main school

is now sited at the northern end of the town.

The railway linking Guildford to Shoreham via Steyning

opened in 1861, but fell foul to the infamous Beeching cuts of the 1960’s.

The rail route has been preserved as a foot, bridle and cycle way, known as the Downs Link.

The Old Town Hall built in 1886 is now an Estate Agents.

Agriculture, brewing, tanning and brickmaking formed

the core of the economy in the late 19th. Century.

Today the town has three pubs, a good variety of shops,

a Health Centre, Public Library and Museum.

The Leisure Centre, including a swimming pool, was funded by the National Lottery.

Steyning Grammar School is now a comprehensive

serving 2,500 pupils from a wide area.

There is also a Primary School and Pre-School.

The town has cricket, football and athletic clubs.

Its prized architecture includes Tudor, Stuart, Georgian and Victorian buildings as well as 20th. and 21st. century developments.

The High Street’s main landmark is the tile-hung Clock-Tower.

The town hosts many walkers on the nearby South Downs

and day-trippers making for the coast, a few miles to the south.

Plenty of places to eat!

KXG 661 is a Volvo B7TL/Plaxton President new to West Midlands Travel as V46 MOA (4046) in November 1999. It passed to sister company Tayside (Xplore Dundee) in 2015 and has since passed to Stuarts of Carluke in Lanarkshire for use as a school contract vehicle.

A couple of views of my attempt with the Stuart Lathe. Satisfying to build but tricky. This is stored for eventual integration with the model Victorian line-shaft which is progressing steadily.

A trio of SD40-2s roll south at Stuart, FL. May 2006.

I built this little pillar drill a few years back. Drawings, castings and bar stock are from Stuart Models. Fun to make, there is a lot of friction in the wire spring drive belt. This model will become a part of the steam driven Victorian line shaft workshop I'm building in about 1/8" scale. At some time, I plan to make an alteration to this and convert the angle dive from spring belt to a bevel geared drive at 90 degrees. All in the master project plan..!
