Strider dressed for the Fourth of July.

Starting the ascent to Helvellyn and looking back along Striding Edge. We had kept to the top all the way, not using the paths that show up in this image.
Fragment of wall relief showing a striding pharaoh.
This fragment is probably from a temple wall, the pharaoh is possibly performing a ritual and accompanied by a restricted group of court attendants. The image of the king towers over the other figures and shows some of the typical symbols of pharaonic power; an animal tail hanging from the waist and a mace with pear-shaped head. This relief holds a great historical importance, because it proves the existence of a religious building erected by the pharaoh in Gebelein, already before the age of the first pyramids.

My new artwork inspired by a local musician, Joe Strider, he can be easily found on MySpace, YouTube, and he has his own website.
Since i do not have a scanner, i had to make a picture of my artwork by my digital camera, scanner would do a better job. Mixed media.
I did not try to make a precise copy of the original, but rather create a symbolized picture of a musician, it is an artwork, not a photography.

Striding Sphinx Finial

Third Intermediate Period, Dynasty 22-24, ca. 945-712 BCE
Bronze
Unlike representations of a lion at rest, a striding sphinx represents protective aggression. The snakelike tail and extended legs of this sphinx identify him as the god Tutu. The falcon wings adorning his flanks place the sphinx in the solar sphere, while the two cobras on his sides support Tutu’s power against evil. This figure was probably attached to a sacred boat used temple rituals, protecting the vessel and the divine statue on board.
