I didn't like this photo at the time, but I love it now. It's an amazing location, but way too many tourists. I don't like touristy places, but I guess they're touristy for a reason. We spent 3 amazing days here in a winter wonderland of thigh-high snow all around us after a massive snowfall. We were lucky to even make it, as the roads into Lake Tekapo were open the day before we had to leave Dunedin. The sun came out for every day we were there. Amazing.

I spent 1 hour waiting for everyone to go away in the film version. I just wish I had a zoom lens

Stranded seaweed on the rocky shore in sea greens and blue

A small oasis we camped at in the Great Sand Sea near the Egyptian / Libyan boarder. The Great Sand Sea is a subset of the Sahara that covers a remote 72,000 km² (27,800 square miles) sand desert region in North Africa stretching between western Egypt and eastern Libya. Hard to say exactly where the shot was taken as it was after a full day offroad in a 4WD across the dunes from the larger oasis town of Siwa, which is about 50 km (30 mi) east of the Libyan border. The mountains are actually old coral reefs stranded in an empty ocean of sand; after hiking up them you could still see the coral heads intact. We camped here for a night; if you look closely you can see the small yellow tents to the right of the oasis. This is an old film shot; this whole area is now off limits due to security issues in Libya and trafficking across the border.

The weather was so uniformly gray the whole day that it pretty much ruined the mood for shooting, then this insane front came in with 100km gusts in the late afternoon and I just tried to stay ahead of the worst of it.

- I have been wanting to visit the SS Nornen for some time, it was a case of waiting for the right conditions to do so.

The SS Nornen is a Norwegian barque which was stranded on the Berrow mud flats following a storm in March 1897. The ship's crew of ten (and their dog) were successfully rescued by the Burnham lifeboat.

There is comfort here.

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because some day in life you will have been all of these.

Visiting a house out in the middle of nowhere in SC, spotted this old boat. Not sure how it got there, but it sure is not going to go anywhere!

A lot of these had been washed up on the shore at Blackness. I found the colours and details of this one, stranded in the seaweed quite fascinating

After capsizing his kayak he manages to pull himself to safety on the rocks around the lighthouse. All he needs to do now is wait to be rescued

Die Leidenschaft, die mich bewegt

Verlor so schnell an Fahrt

Stranded on a dried reed in a pool, this Hebrew Character (?) larva was frantically looking around for a way to escape. Luckily I had the wellies on and brought it to a nice wildflower tussock

Chichester Harbour has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the area in the distance - the South Downs - has been designated a National Park. This boat is often moored at this location and stranded in the mud each time the tide goes out.

"We were on our way to investigate strange nuclear readings coming from a mountain range in extreme Northern Nunavut. It was all going fine, but the weight from our vehicle combined with the ongoing brightness at this time of year brought a slab of ice plummeting down into the water leaving our only vehicle stuck. We radioed for help but due to it being 3:00AM it was going to take a while to get backup. We then saw what we had been searching for - and it didn't look friendly. We were told to hold our position until they arrived. We just hoped they were asleep too..."
