My wife alway says the blue of the sky in Spain is different than in Germany. In the beginning I was very sceptical (the sky is the same in any part, or?) but after some time, I can only confirm it: The blue is much more intense than in Germany. If it's for the location more north or the near of the Mediterranean Sea, I don't know.
But once you compare the two you will say the same.
Especially at noon when the sun is at its zenith, the sky is darker - depending on the camera angle.
Putting the sky as a main part of the photo normally leads to a boring photo.
So, to emphasize it anyway, I needed a good but simple contrast and composition.
Shot on Velvia with Nikon F601. Post-processing in PSE.
From right underneath Louise Bourgeois' giant spider Maman, looking up at the womb, gently cradling its load of glass eggs.
The way this image has turned out was a complete accident of post-processing... I was trying to create layer masks in photoshop to separately bring out the details of sky and spider, and happened upon this steely, alien effect. I rather like the way it differentiates the creature from its environment.
A quick shot before I leave for a little trip to see my family and a three day tandem cycling trip with the Hubby.
My Project brief is to go up to strangers in the street that I think have an interesting look/style and ask them if I can photograph them. This girl did not want her photo to be taken, but I managed to convince her and got a great shot out of it :)
When processing this image I thought I'd see how it would look in colour. This is probably the only image that I felt worked due to the way she positioned between the gates, and the lighting.
So here you go, one colour image!
Not abandoned - this is the door to my sister's chicken coop. It's just not being used right at the moment.
Looking up at the field lights which surround the track/field on the Subase where I live. We were there to watch my husband's flag-football team play another duty-station's team (sadly, the other team greatly outscored them in the first half, and they were unable to recoup their losses... even though they outscored the opposition by triple in the second half. Oh well...)
