The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located on the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets in the Auckland CBD, Auckland City, New Zealand. It is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast,[4] making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Due to its shape and height, especially when compared to the next tallest structures, it has become an iconic structure in Auckland's skyline.
i've been having trouble sleeping (or rather i wake up in the middle of the night and then have trouble falling back asleep). a coworker from china suggested i take fish oil. um. yeah. no.
You'd think that on my vacation I'd actually have the time to take some decent 365 shots, but you'd be wrong. We've been doing some final renovations to the apartment and they're a major time suck.
This is looking pretty much.... straight... up. This slope is up in the Beartooth Mountains past Red Lodge. It's above the treeline, and pretty much all scree and sedimentary rock. The road is *very* narrow and *very* winding and just a little nerve-wracking. Especially when you're the one looking out your window straight up (or down) the mountain. The edge of the road that you see is the same 2-lane road we were traveling on - just a hairpin turn and a steep climb away.
I often take photos of planes from Capitol Hill. This magnificent tree with blazing leaves framed the shot for me.

This is a view looking straight up from the footpath outside. Yes, the building overhangs the path.
On my way to the shops in Smithfield and passing between these two buildings, on looking up, I wanted to see how the cameraphone would handle this.
straight up at the painted beams of St. Peter in Palgrave church with marian symbols and monograms. most of the churches had these removed quite some time ago.

april 22, 2010 - in honor of west chester's restaurant week, maureen, pat, tracy, sarah & i went out to eat at the mediterranean. we brought a bottle of wine with us and sat there for hours and had the best time EVER. we're planning on making this a monthly event now, but at a different restaurant each time.
I made a handcolored picture similar to this of my daughter when she was 10. This was an attempt to revisit that. The similarities as well as the differences are striking.
Even after dropping its petals this wild daisy has a delicate beauty that is expressed in its details and symmetry...

I have been woefully behind in posting and reading and everything, really, since my return from vacation last month. But I am back now (I am going away again next week, to Philly! But I will take my computer.
Note the one in the centre front has horns going different ways. The one further back has very straightup horns which make it look like he's had way too much coffee. I had at this point just recently had a buffalo burger at the airport in the middle of the island so I think the buffaloes were giving me dirty looks.
