365 Project Day 31: January 31, 2011
Ever have one of those days where you have so much to do that they only way to keep yourself sane is to turn around and do something else completely? Maybe that's just me... It doesn't necessarily solve the problem, but sometimes I just need to reset. Today was one of those days. After a busy day at work, I had a lot on my list to do tonight, but that just wasn't in the cards. Instead I spent way more time than I'd like to admit getting this photo...
This is one of my external hard drives - currently the home to pretty much all of my photos. I have a pile of hard drives on my desk, plus a backup floating around at work right now and really don't know what to do with it all. It's kind of a stopgap until I get a new computer, but that may or may not happen soon. Either way, I really need to work on some organization system at some point before I start losing stuff in this mess I call my photography.
The lighting here took a bit of playing around with, since I wanted to add a couple colors with gels and only have one flash. It ended up being a lot of fumbling around in a dark room trying to find gels and get enough flashes in before the shutter closed... This was the best of about 20 experiments.

This is an acorn storage tree used by a group of Acorn Woodpeckers to store acorns for eating during the winter. This tree was riddled with holes from about 5ft above the group to as high as I could see.
I love to save cans with pretty, unique, or nostalgic labels. Then we use them around here for crafty storage. Yay.

The hallway leading to the arsenal was zig zagged so that any shrapnel or shots fired would not ricochet into the storage area.
We spent Memorial Day with Grandma at Fort Independence in Castle Island Park, South Boston Massachusetts. The guided tour enlightened us to life and duties in the fort during the time when it was active.
Deep storage cushions at the foot of the bed. Also in the centre is one of the outlets for the diesel heater, keeping very warm and cosy at night time.
Drawers full of stuff for my art work! Sewing/fabric things in the tall one, the middle one is full of glue, embellishments and other odds and ends, the last one is full of papers, books and other stuff I'll eventually use... I have a barbie up there to alter, magazines to rip up, boxes to cover/alter and my journals/sketchbooks and two things of paper
