The event took place on a 5KM loop of Donadea Forest Park (read more below). The recent stormy and very wet conditions in Ireland made way for perfect running weather for the race. There was a slight breeze here and there on the route but for the most part the route was very sheltered. With so much running traffic on the course certain parts of the course became more muddy as time went on. However, this bother the participants who were expecting conditions to be much more difficult.
Congratulations to Anthony Lee of Donadea Running Club and Donadea Running Club for putting countless hours of voluntary effort into the staging of this event. The event has all the hallmarks of a professional event. There was a superb atmosphere around the loop as locals and other runners supported the runners.
Donadea Forest Park is situated in rural north Kildare and is approximately 640 acres in size. The amenities at the forest include good walking trails, a diversity of natural habitats, a walled stream, a large natural lake, and the ruins of Donadea castle. The Park is a designated National Heritage Area. The basic designation for wildlife is the Natural Heritage Area (NHA). This is an area considered important for the habitats present or which holds species of plants and animals whose habitat needs protection. It is a special event to allow the 50KM to be held in this environment.

We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/

Yes - of course you can! Flickr provides several ways to share this and other photographs in this Flickr set. Your mobile, tablet, or desktop device will also offer you several different options for sharing this photo page on your social media outlets.
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. Our only "cost" is our request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us.
This also extends the use of these images for Facebook profile pictures. In these cases please make a separate wall or blog post with a link to our Flickr page. I would like to contribute something for your photograph(s)?
Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets

Heatherdowns, Scotland hamlet, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Williamsburg, VA
The Loch Ness Monster steel roller coaster was manufactured by Arrow Dynamics and opened in the Heatherdowns hamlet on June 2nd, 1978. It was the world's first roller coaster to have interlocking loops (and is the only one that still has 'em as well) and at the time of opening was said to be the world's tallest and fastest coaster, statistics that have obviously been topped since then.
In this shot, the train makes its' descent down the coaster's first drop above the Grimm's Landung bridge.

With statistics showing that road accidents are the number one killer of young people in the UK, Fixers are taking action on road safety.
To have their voices heard, 20 Fixers and over 50 guests attended the 'Fixers Road Savvy Forum' at the Abbey Centre in Westminster on Wednesday 4th September.
The event brought together young people, politicians and road safety experts to discuss the biggest road safety issues facing the country today.
Fixers from across the nation participated in a morning workshop session, brainstorming ways to improve road safety. The findings will be presented to the government in the form of a ‘Fixers Green Paper', following the Department of Transport’s decision to consult on road safety proposals.
In the afternoon, a panel of five Fixers – Jordan Bone, Manpreet Darroch, Jen Byrne, Cathal O’Kane and Abi Phillips – used these ideas to answer questions from an audience of politicians and road safety advocates. The discussion was hosted by ITV presenter Nina Hossain.

Statistics in IX Grade IX GradeHello Friends, in today's class we all are going to discuss about one of the most interesting and a bit complex topic of mathematics, Probability and statistics. Here I am going to tell you the best way of understanding probability problems and also discuss about its applications not just in mathematics world but also in other areas of studies as well. The other areas of study where it plays an important role are Physics, Chemistry, social science etc. In ninth grade what students suppose to do with probability and statistics are : They use an appropriate language to express their findings and duplications. Teachers tells them how to create questions to help them find the differences among several samples in a population. They assemble their studies of situations to include the part of experimental and random surveys. Students try to learn things to use and explain the univariate and bivariate in measurement and definitive data. The overall information is basically used to develop scatter plots, regression coefficients, and regression equations using technological tools.
In the next five years, nearly two-thirds of the Senior Executive Service (SES)–the elite cadre of civil servants who hold the top managerial and policy positions in government–will be retirement eligible. Given the complex challenges confronting our government, the need for strong leaders to fill these executive positions is critical. Are federal agencies prepared for the potential turnover? Are agency leaders identifying and developing aspiring executives?
That is what the Partnership for Public Service and McKinsey & Company set out to understand in the new report, “Building the Leadership Bench: Developing a Talent Pipeline for the SES.” The report includes four phases of a cohesive SES pipeline-development strategy and case studies of agencies who excel in their execution of one or more of these phases.

Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (Transnistria) official statistics show that 91 percent of the Transnistrian population adhere to Eastern Orthodox Christianity, with 4 percent adhering to the Catholic Church. Roman Catholics are mainly located in Northern Transnistria, where a notable Polish minority is living.
Transnistria's government has supported the restoration and construction of new Orthodox churches. It affirms that the republic has freedom of religion and states that 114 religious beliefs and congregations are officially registered. However, as recently as 2005, registration hurdles were met with by some religious groups, notably the Jehovah's Witnesses. In 2007, the US-based Christian Broadcasting Network denounced the persecution of Protestants in Transnistria

City Hall was built by the John W. Cowper Company, which was the same firm that earlier had built the Statler hotel and The Buffalo Athletic Club. The total cost of the building of City Hall was $6,851,546.85, including architect fees, making it at the time one of the most costly city halls in the country.
The following are some interesting statistics about City Hall:
•The ground area of the site on Niagara Square is 71,700 square feet and cost $698,930, also making it one of the largest city halls in the country. Ground was broken on September 16, 1929 and the corner stone was laid May 14, 1930. The building was completed for occupancy on November 10, 1931, even though parts of the building were occupied as early as September 1931. The building was dedicated in July 1932.
•The building has 32 stories, 26 of which are usable office space, and is 398 feet high from the street to the tip of the tower.
•The total floor area is 566,313 square feet of which 316,937 square feet is usable for office space.
•There are 1,520 windows from the first to the twenty-fifth floor. An interesting design feature is that all of them open inward, making window washers obsolete in the new City Hall. It takes approximately ten days to clean them all.
•There are eight elevators to the 13th floor and four to the 25th floor. Curtis Elevator Co., the oldest active Elevator Company in the country, furnished the elevators. Otis Elevator Co. now the largest Elevator Company in the world supplied additional elevators added later.
•There are 5,000 electrical outlets, 5,400 electrical switches, and 21 motor driven ventilation fans. One hundred and ten miles of copper wire weighing 43 tons, 47 miles or 180 tons of conduit pipe can be found throughout the building, as well as 26 miles or 5 car loads of underfoot conduit. There are either 138 0r 143 clocks (there is some dispute on here) regulated by a master clock in the basement and 37 fire alarm stations distributed throughout the building.
•It originally had 375 telephones with a master switchboard and 369 flood lights with an average candlepower of 350 each illuminating the exterior of the building at night from dusk to midnight.
•City Hall was originally equipped with a non-powered air-conditioning system. The building is situated to face the wind that carries off Lake Erie and the architects used the power of that wind to cool the rooms throughout the building. Large vents were placed on the exterior of the building to catch wind that would then travel down vents to beneath the basement, where the ground would cool the air. This cooled air would then enter a series of vents that would distribute the cool air through the building. The wind off the lake was usually strong enough to power air through this system.
•Seven years later, in 1939, defects would appear in the building that would cause quite a ruckus. Apparently, many anchors were left out in the walls behind the granite facings into which water had seeped. This combined with Buffalo's fine weather to cause extensive damage.

This graph is a representation of the focal length of all my digital photos. It all started because of this thread in the Nikon D50 group discussion forum. (Statistics are fun!)
Everything below 21mm are photos I shot with my cameraphone. Most of the pictures in the 35 - 430 mm range were shot with a Panasonic Lumix superzoom. The last few months I have been using a D50, with an old Nikon 28-80 mm lens and a 50 mm f1.8.
From what I see here a zoom lens covering about 30 - 100 mm would be a nice addition, and maybe a prime around 200 or 300 mm. What do you think?
" Lies, damned lies, and statistics" ; is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments, and the tendency of people to disparage statistics that do not support their positions. It is also sometimes colloquially used to doubt statistics used to prove an opponent's point.
The term was popularised in the United States by Mark Twain (among others), who attributed it to the 19th-century British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881): "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." However, the phrase is not found in any of Disraeli's works and the earliest known appearances were years after his death. Other coiners have therefore been proposed.
