This is the Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park in western Kansas. Once you arrive in that area you might wonder "Am I still in Kansas?"
CSX Q566 crosses 1 to 2 at State Line in Hammond, Indiana behind a pair of venerable EMD SD40-2s as more winter weather settles in.
WLE 218 emerges out of State Line Tunnel into Pennsylvania after traversing less than ten miles of former P&WV trackage in West Virginia. The tunnel and right-of-way were built around 1903 by the Wabash-Pittsburgh Terminal Railroad, later reorganized as the Pittsburgh and West Virginia. It was a part of the Alphabet Route and merged into Norfolk and Western in 1964.
Are they mesmerized by: (a) the roar, (b) the power, (c) the beauty or (d) all of the above?

I was in Northern Kentucky looking for neat architecture along the Dixie Highway when I came upon this gorgeous blue Camaro (I'm pretty sure that's the model, probably from the late 60s). Naturally I snapped a photo of it, but when I went back and looked at the picture on my computer at home to find out what model and year it was I was surprised to discover that the car apparently belongs to one of the state senators of Kentucky (it says so on the license plate)! Now that's a politician who knows how to ride in style!
This is an urban park in the Denver Metro, Roxborough State Park. It has the same cool formations as Garden of the Gods a bit further south, albeit smaller and not quite as dramatic!
From the same roll that I got back today. They were taken months apart, but something about them fit together for me.
So, the story is that at the time Eric and I had not heard of the film "Religulous" and we thought that the marquee sorta meant to say that they were open every day religiously. This supposed misspelling was hilarious to me because there was a church adjacent ot the theater! I later found out that it was the name of a documentary. duh. Still funny. Eric made a super awesome painting of the theater and wrote about our journey here. Check it out.
My second mistake regarding the theater was unknowingly referring to the town it's in as "Tupperware Lake" while on the phone with the guy that I was supposed to meet at Traditional Arts of Upstate New York that afternoon. Ooops.
I had Thanksgiving dinner at 10:30 pm at the diner on the left. The interior is pretty great and I'll have more to post of it soon.
(I'm listening to the cars squeal by in the street outside my apt. as they try to make their way down the slush and snow covered streets. I just missed getting a ticket and being towed last night during the snow emergency!!)

Chicago District Electric Generating Corp. SW1 #3 is switching a cut of hoppers in South Chicago at State Line Generating plant on a gray winter day. The plant has since closed and has been torn down and the fate of this switcher was probably scrap.

Amtrak Train 1246 the Sunday afternoon southbound Berkshire Flyer from Pittsfield to New York Penn Station hustles out of State Line Tunnel on the old Boston and Albany mainline. Leading the way is AMTK 743, a GP38-3 delivered in March 2024 and dressed in the railroad's new Phase VII paint scheme. Normally assigned as a yard switcher and work train unit at Rensselaer it is used only on the Albany-Rensselaer to Pittsfield leg since there is no turning facility at Pittsfield. Upon return to Rensselaer it will be cut off and the P32AC-DM that trailed on the rear providing the HEP will now lead the train south down the Hudson Line.
This unit was most recently rebuilt by Progress Rail from PRLX 2166 but has a long history. It was originally built as a GP38-2 in Sep. 1975 for Cleveland Electric Illuminating to Penn Central specs and numbered CEIX 104 and used on unit coal coal trains. After being returned to EMD when the lease was up it entered the LLPX lease fleet until being going to the Union Pacific under a long term operating lease in 1997. It wore numbers UP 1975, 2394, and 894 until being retired in 2009. It then became part of GATX's lease fleet after they bought out EMD's leasing arm and it became GMTX 2166 and continued spend time on UP just now dressed in blue and white instead of Armour yellow.
The original tunnel here visible at left, was bored about 1840 by the Western Railroad and was joined by another just to its south about 1912 when the line was triple tracked. When Conrail singled tracked the line in late 1988 it was left vacant and all traffic now moves through this south bore. This 600 ft long tunnel is not actually located on the MA/NY state line but is a couple miles to the west here at Milepost QB164.8 on what is now known as CSXT's Berkshire Subdivision.

IERR 206 crosses over from Indiana to Ohio at State Line Rd in Peoria with the day's southbound chemical train for Fernald, OH. Unless you're lucky, currently, IERR's GP38-2 5255 is the railroad's main power for the Fernald turns.
In the Caribbean section of the Texas State Aquarium this blue and gold macaw roams, and enjoys waving to visitors. For 119 pictures in 2019 #26 "Comical". Please see the short clip of this next in the stream.

I have never seen this waterfall so good but after the heavy rain last Friday! I spent quite a bit of time by myself on Friday shooting these falls from many different vantage points and getting soaking wet in the process, such fun!!
