Gunpowder River under sunset conditions ... and just entering into Fall. Looks more bare now with Fall past full swing. Amazing that only a month can make a big difference.
Grand Portage State Park is located at the northeastern tip of Minnesota on the Canada–United States border. Its 120-foot High Falls is the tallest waterfall in the state and has been an icon of the area of centuries. The falls and rapids that proceed it were obstacles that led the voyageurs and fur traders of the 1700s to craft the area's name Git-che-O-ni-ga-ming (Ojibwe) or Grand Portage (French). In order to connect heavily-used trade routes, these men had to traverse nine miles around the falls from the Pigeon River to Lake Superior.

Clear Lake - Iowa
Not much action on the beach today! Temps cool in the mid fifties, and strong sustained winds at thirty-five plus mph. We didn't stay very long either, but the whitecaps on this side of the lake were amazing!
Spring is having a tough start in north central Iowa. Come June, this whole area will be filled with parents, pipsqueaks and poodles!

This majestic Gothic Revival schoolhouse was designed and built by W.W. Eldridge in 1889. It served the community until 1986 when the school was relocated to a modern building. Renovations were carried out and it was converted into Council Chambers until the Town Council was amalgamated with the larger Northern Midlands Council in 1993.
But the building still serves the community as a tourism information hub, and importantly continues to house Evandale's valuable historical archival material.

Morning light on Skyline Ridge, Stevens Pass, Washington
New year, new adventures! Yesterday I headed up to the mountains to snowshoe the Grace Lakes trail, a new trail for me, in an area I had not previously explored in the winter.
It was an incredible day, with some of the best snow conditions I have snowshoed in for a long time. And I knew it was going to be a special, after it rained for most of the drive up, but then the clouds lifted as I approached the Pass, and just as I was heading out on the trail, the sun crested the ridge and set the mountains alight.
This foggy early morning scene at Guadalupe State Park in Texas provided an inviting landscape to explore.
Neat state park we came across while traveling from North Dakota towards Devils Tower as we passed through Montana.

This image is double exposed in photoshop. I created a duplicate layer and exposed the bottom layer for the foreground and exposed the top layer for the sky manually blending the two with layer masks.

Fuji X-E2 plus Samyang telephoto mirror lens at close range. You are, of course, completely free to associate this image with ideas of your own. To me, there is some symbolism involved, namely, a visual expression of the way many nations have rubber-stamped or given their seal of approval to the atrocities directed by Israel's right-wing government - not necessarily by their words, but by their deeds or rather by their non-action. Some nations had already acknowledged the statehood of Palestine and France has now joined this group. This is extremely important for the pursuit of the long-awaited "two-state" solution. A quick fix it certainly is not, for the rulers of Gaza, though fairly diminished now, are Hamas, a totalitarian and violent regime that has as much to do with liberty as a cow with playing the violin. But France has made a point.
