In other news...the Linda Vista abandoned hospital shoot is just under a week away on July 3rd. I still have a couple slots for people to join in if you'd like, or if you know someone who lives here who wants to. The cost is $50 per shooter to come along for a 14 hour day of shooting in the hospital. This is not a group thing, we are all shooting individually.
Actually it was a little warm on this late summer evening by the river ... but the cool tones of blue hour were quite soothing. A pretty place to sit and enjoy the sounds of the flowing river ... and nothing else.

A very unique waterfall! We had a lot of creek crossings while hiking through the canyon. Some areas had nice stepping stones while others were unstable slippery rocks. Quite the adventure!
FLICKR is limiting the number of comments you can do in an hour evidently ... so feeling kind of blue. Seems this has been going on for many for the past 24 hours now. Hope they get their shit together.

In a "bird-rich" state like Florida, does the commonplace northern mockingbird deserve to reign as the official state bird?
According to the Florida Department of State Division of Historical Resources, the Mockingbird "is a superb songbird and mimic. Its own song has a pleasant lilting sound and is, at times, both varied and repetitive." The bird was put in place in 1927 under Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 3. The bird won over the Legislature in part because "the melody of its music has delighted the heart of residents and visitors to Florida from the days of the rugged pioneer to the present comer."
Someone else once wrote. "I am finishing this post the next day because I had to go buy a new computer after I threw my last one out the window when I read that Florida's state bird was the northern mockingbird. I cannot think of a more pathetic choice for one of the most bird-rich states in the nation. What's their state beverage, a half-glass of warm tap water?"
"The fact stands that four other states have the same official bird; Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. It's as overused as the northern cardinal (five states) and the western meadowlark (six states), and some make the convincing argument that every state should have its own bird."
Who would have ever "thunk" the Mockingbird could stir up so much controversy. The debate still "rages"!

Delaware Legislative Hall building in Dover, Delaware
Delaware Legislative Hall is the state capitol building of Delaware located in the state capital city of Dover on Legislative Avenue that houses the chambers and offices of the Delaware General Assembly. Front View.
Grand Portage State Park is located at the northeastern tip of Minnesota on the Canada–United States border. Its 120-foot High Falls is the tallest waterfall in the state and has been an icon of the area for centuries. The falls and rapids that proceed it were obstacles that led the voyageurs and fur traders of the 1700s to craft the area's name Git-che-O-ni-ga-ming (Ojibwe) or Grand Portage (French). In order to connect heavily-used trade routes, these men had to traverse nine miles around the falls from the Pigeon River to Lake Superior.

hiding out in the desert again for another week as we waited for the border rush to end before reluctantly coming home
there is no place like home, however, it is nice to be back and we wait another 2 weeks under a voluntary quarantine order before seeing our friends and raising a glass...hope you are all safe at home, hunkering, hankering, hopefully not hoarding
