all hand held, but with the strobe, I was able to minimize shake by stopping down and using a relatively high shutter speed; since the strobe fires in about 1/8000 sec there is little blur because most of the light is derived from the strobe

Formerly the State Theater, Elkhart, Indiana. Cornhole, BTW, is a game which involves throwing beanbags at a board with a single hole, set on an incline. Really.

Palm Beach State College has launched a major initiative to impact the projected shortage of local, skilled professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields. The goal of the initiative is to prepare students for the high-paying, high-demand positions immediately available in these industries. The arts, which so dramatically contribute to technology’s design through creativity and ingenuity, are incorporated, resulting in the name STEAM.

this is a super awesome state park on Orcas Island that actually felt like a park to me--at least, actually had an interconnected trail network and trails that were more than half a mile long:) We camped in here for two nights
(also, it's very, very hilly:) Which I liked a lot and James put up with like a champ:)

The Lost Maples State Natural Area is one of the most popular parks in Texas, although most of the visitors come during a few weeks at the end of the year. Located in the middle of the Hill Country on the edge of Bandera County at the convergence of the Sabinal River and Concan Creek, the park is known for its abundance of Bigtooth Maple trees. Due to the unique geographic features of the area, this is one of the few places within hundreds of miles that can support the maple trees. Around the first of November, the trees turn brilliant shades of yellows, oranges and reds, providing some the richest fall foliage colors in the entire region.
I first visited the park in May (the 'off-season'), checking out some of the hiking trails along the Sabinal River, as well as the longer East Trail. In addition to the colorful trees, the park also contains some interesting geological features, various limestone formations and speleothems typical of the region. I returned again in October for the more rugged Mystic Trail/West Trail loop, catching a bit of fall color but still a few weeks too early for the full show. Oh well, there's always next year.
