It was a cool brisk morning, great to be out. Struggling yet again to find something to compose, I came across some interesting sand formations and rocks.

I decided I'd had enough of all the sunshine and endless blue skies we get in Scotland, so I went in search of some clouds and headed off to Florida, USA, otherwise known as the sunshine state... I was sure I'd find some clouds there and sure enough I did :o)
And no, I don't know why they call it the sunshine state.

The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in New York City at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. Its name is derived from the nickname for the state of New York. It stood as the world's tallest building for more than forty years, from its completion in 1931 until construction of the World Trade Center's North Tower was completed in 1972. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001, the Empire State Building again became the tallest building in New York City and New York State.
The Empire State Building has been named by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. The building and its street floor interior are designated landmarks of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and confirmed by the New York City Board of Estimate. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986. In 2007, it was ranked number one on the List of America's Favorite Architecture according to the AIA. The building is owned and managed by W&H Properties.

CSX I016 rolls through the field of State Line, PA spiriting the freshly released B&O Heritage unit as solo power up front.
A former Missouri Pacific B23-7 pulls Union Pacific's "Sandy Local" across the art deco style State Street bridge in Midvale, Utah the afternoon of Jan. 26, 1989.
The concrete and steel bridge was built in the 1930s as a "gauntlet", for both a Union Pacific main line and a Rio Grande branch line over-crossing the highway. It also included pedestrian subways on both sides of the street, parallel to the road.
Cruiser 973 heading North on US 23 Just outside of Portsmouth Ohio heading towards Rosemount.
4 hours Later I drove by this spot again, it was night and there was a 2 vehicle MVA just to the right of where the cruiser is now.
Saw the sun rising over Flat Iron Mountain at Lost Dutchman State Park this morning and knew I needed a shot. Or 12. Went monochrome because the colors were just not working out.

The Ohio River is in Kentucky. Where I was standing for this shot was most likely in Kentucky also. I'm not sure where the actual state line is throgh this park. It's officially on the northern banks of the Ohio River as pf June 1, 1792, when Kentucky became a state.
WLE 218 emerges out of State Line Tunnel into Pennsylvania after traversing less than ten miles of former P&WV trackage in West Virginia. The tunnel and right-of-way were built around 1903 by the Wabash-Pittsburgh Terminal Railroad, later reorganized as the Pittsburgh and West Virginia. It was a part of the Alphabet Route and merged into Norfolk and Western in 1964.
After a wonderful day's shoot at Keswick, managed to go to the Lowry Theatre for the evening to see the Chinese State Circus in action, great show it was, managed to sneak in the 40D and the 50-135mm F2.8 lens and fired off a few shots, taken at F2.8 and ISO 1600.
I like this one as the couple were flying through the air!
