There was only a thin trickle of visitors at 6:30 Tuesday morning, December 4, 2018, to pay respects to President George H.W. Bush, then lying in state in the U.S. Capitol. The experience was dignified and respectful, relaxed and welcoming, much like the man lying in the center of the room.
The Black Noddies' favorite rock in the middle of the natural bay at Waianapanapa State Park. Since it's black lava covered in white bird crap, the Noddies blend right in!
State Line Tower in Hammond, Indiana was North America's largest mechanical interlocking. The plant was put in service in 1897 and retired in August 2000.

This is taken from the Top of the Rock Observatory. They do not allow tripods and had to do best I could free-hand. Difficult when your hands are frozen, it's still snowing and cold. I waited an hour for the lights to come on, but it was well worth the wait.
The Northern most of Big Sur's parks, Garrapata State Park is fairly easy to drive by unless you're on the look out. I only stopped by the beaches, but it was a nice place to view the ocean with plenty of picturesque cliffs to go around.

Many of the city's landmarks, skyscrapers, and parks are known around the world. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the world. New York is home to the largest ethnic Chinese population outside of Asia, with multiple distinct Chinatowns across the city. Providing continuous 24/7 service and contributing to the nickname The City that Never Sleeps, the New York City Subway is the largest single-operator rapid transit system worldwide, with 472 rail stations. The city has over 120 colleges and universities, including Columbia University, New York University, Rockefeller University, and the City University of New York system, which is the largest urban public university system in the United States. Manhattan is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by total market capitalization, namely the New York Stock Exchange, located on Wall Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, and NASDAQ, headquartered in Midtown Manhattan.
This was just there, on the grass, during the golden hour of a nice summer day.
I'm almost tempted to just ignore the fact that someone again dumped old electronics outside just because of the poetic picture it provided.

Custer State Park is a South Dakota State Park and wildlife reserve in the Black Hills, United States. The park is South Dakota's largest and first state park, named after Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer. The park covers an area of over 71,000 acres (287 km2) of varied terrain including rolling prairie grasslands and rugged mountains.
The park is home to a herd of 1,500 bison. Elk, coyotes, mule deer, white tailed deer, mountain goats, prairie dogs, bighorn sheep, river otters, pronghorn, cougars, and feral burros also inhabit the park. The park is known for its scenery, its scenic drives (Needles Highway and the wildlife loop), with views of the bison herd and prairie dog towns. This park is easily accessible by road from Rapid City. Other nearby attractions are Wind Cave National Park, Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Badlands National Park.

Encompassing 71,000 acres in the Black Hills, Custer State Park is home to abundant wildlife and adventure; camping, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, or relaxing, there’s something here for everyone.
Feeding and disturbing park wildlife is against park regulations. While the animals within the park are used to visitors and vehicles, they are still wild animals. Please remain in your vehicle or stay at least 100 yards from bison, elk, and other animals.
Pets must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet and are not allowed in any park buildings or on designated swim beaches. Please clean up after your pet and do not leave it unattended. Service animals are welcome.
Firearms must be unloaded and cased unless during a hunting season with the proper license. Concealed carry is allowed with the appropriate permit.

"Jaune Quick-To-See Smith has painted several maps of the United States to show how the land already occupied by ancient native communities was colonized by European settlers. Here, she included names of states that derive from Native American words, such as Wyoming, from a Delaware Indian word that means 'mountains and valleys alternating,' and Kansas, from a Sioux word meaning 'people of the south wind.' Smith is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Nation in Montana and works to raise recognition of Native American art and peoples. State Names expresses her anger that the country’s lands were divided without regard for existing tribal territories." (source)
