Custer State Park is a South Dakota State Park and wildlife reserve in the Black Hills, United States. The park is South Dakota's largest and first state park, named after Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer. The park covers an area of over 71,000 acres (287 km2) of varied terrain including rolling prairie grasslands and rugged mountains.
The park is home to a herd of 1,500 bison. Elk, coyotes, mule deer, white tailed deer, mountain goats, prairie dogs, bighorn sheep, river otters, pronghorn, cougars, and feral burros also inhabit the park. The park is known for its scenery, its scenic drives (Needles Highway and the wildlife loop), with views of the bison herd and prairie dog towns. This park is easily accessible by road from Rapid City. Other nearby attractions are Wind Cave National Park, Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave National Monument, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Badlands National Park.

Encompassing 71,000 acres in the Black Hills, Custer State Park is home to abundant wildlife and adventure; camping, hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, or relaxing, there’s something here for everyone.
Feeding and disturbing park wildlife is against park regulations. While the animals within the park are used to visitors and vehicles, they are still wild animals. Please remain in your vehicle or stay at least 100 yards from bison, elk, and other animals.
Pets must be on a leash no longer than 10 feet and are not allowed in any park buildings or on designated swim beaches. Please clean up after your pet and do not leave it unattended. Service animals are welcome.
Firearms must be unloaded and cased unless during a hunting season with the proper license. Concealed carry is allowed with the appropriate permit.

Won her first goat at 8 by writing a 300 word essay on how she would care for it.
“I remember being in the car and getting butterflies when I saw the fairgrounds exit.” First started to really talk to Tom in their early 20s, they had started to date long distance while she was in nursing school in AZ. When Tom had his accident they began to speak more and more. She came up to help take care of him after one of his surgeries to rebuild his ears. She stayed at his families house for a week after the surgery to take care of him. That was a defining moment in their relationship. After she graduated she moved to Syracuse. Her and Tom bought his parents farm, the same house she had stayed to take care of him. They still live there to this day.
“All the goats have their own personalities, some I hate and some I love. I can just look at them and tell if something is wrong.”
“Favorite thing at the fair is walking around, people watching, there is always something new to see.”
“The worst part of the fair is leaving, and saying good-buy to the whole goat barn family until next year.

Pranks include:
Gluing money to the ground, putting someone in a large stuffed prize and scaring people, putting someone in a large box or can and, with a cell phone, telling them which way to walk to scare people, using a fake spider or a snake on a piece of fishing string to pull or drop in front of people.

"First infestation noted in Badger Creek watershed in 1909, and about 100 trees cut and treated in spring of 1910. In the spring of 1912, 1502 infested yellow pines and 1960 lodgepole pines were treated in the Badger Creek watershed. This has been a decided check to the infestation in this particular region. Average cost per tree, $ .778. Cost per M. ft. B.M., $ 3.91. Total cost of project, $ 2,846, including $178. for camps and control equipment."

Cuomo today announced that landmarks across the state will be lit blue and gold on June 15 in celebration of reaching 70 percent of New York adults receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Shortly before the North American Cycle Courier Championships in 2011, Bastrop, Texas, burned to a crisp in a hellish wildfire. Two years later the park is still coming back, as it will be for decades to come.

Built at the close of the 19th century, the Tennessee State Prison housed inmates until it was closed in 1989. From the time it began operations in 1898, the 800 cells of the prison had almost continually been over crowded. Throughout it's history numerous calamities have occurred at the penitentiary including riots, mass escapes, and fires. Conditions at the facility were forbidding and harsh due to overcrowding, sanitation problems and insufficient ventilation. In 1983 a federal court decision prohibited the Tennessee Department of Corrections from ever housing prisoners at the TN State Prison.
Since 1992 the facility has been left mostly abandoned. Several buildings on the massive compound are still in some use today, but the rest of the prison lies in disrepair and deterioration. The Tennessee State Prison is now a wonderland of decay. Not without danger, the buildings on the site are contaminated with black mold, asbestos, and lead based paint among other obvious perils. Yet, it is a completely fascinating location to explore. Numerous films and music videos have been shot on the grounds of the prison.
Nearly all of my exploration of this site on this visit was of the medical facility on the northern end of the compound. The medical facility one of the most restricted buildings at the prison, attributable in part to damage caused by a film crew from VH1 that were visiting to shoot the “Celebrity Paranormal Project.”
