TEWKSBURY STATE HOSPITAL, TEWKSBURY, MA -- A few years ago (seven, actually) I was granted access to photograph the grounds of the Tewksbury State Hospital in Massachusetts. I scanned them film into PhotoShop and processed them with a tin-type action to give them an H.P.Lovecraft look. Built in 1866 under the concept of the Kirkbride Plan, this facility was originally called the Tewksbury Asylum.
The Tewksbury State Hospital is still a functioning hospital. It is not abandoned, so don't go trying to sneak in there.
For all you can say about the important parts of the State Fair of Texas (or any fair)--livestock, parades, autos, etc.--when you were a kid, did you want to see all of that, or did you immediately look for the Midway? A decade before this, my friend Tommy Vaughan and I rode three roller coasters here in rapid succession, with a Coca-Cola break between each. I have never been on a roller coaster since, and I don't want to ride another one, either. A couple of years before that, I lost a wallet on one of the rides. I went back to ask, and the man in charge returned my wallet. There are nice people on the Midways. Note the crescent moon in the upper right hand corner. That's not faked or photo shopped.
SOO 1003 crosses over Rt. 120 at the state line. Imagine what the passers-by thought when they saw this thing go over them.
Enjoying the day in Letchworth State Park in Upstate Ny with my grandkids. While taking photographs of the twins enjoying the day a group of Mennonite girls approached the wall to enjoy the view. I like the contrast of cultures as well as the expressions on the girls faces as they notice the twins. I did ask after what their religious views were about being photographed and they don't like to be asked to pose for photographs. Being captured in an image going about their day was fine.
NS C40-9 8797 curves off the Nickel Plate onto the Indiana Harbor Belt at State Line Interlocking with auto racks for Gibson Yard.
I suspect these racks are loaded with new Fords built at the nearby plant and the train will be mixed at Gibson for delivery nationwide.
Built in 1992, this C40-9 was rebuilt as NS AC44CM 4117 in 2018.
9/11 memorial at Liberty State park in New Jersey...the ring effect occurs in late afternoon, close to sunset as the sun dips low in the sky. The couple in the shot were tourists and they were photographing each other and we asked if we could photograph them...I debated about posting this as a more solemn type of pose would have been more in keeping with this memorial but this shot of them jumping in the air just seemed more dynamic and in essence, a triumph over tragedy.
Minneaopa state park has got spectacular beauty with cascading waterfalls, rock formation, river trails, wild flower, hiking adventure, wildlife, bird view many many more.
GDLK 302 passes CP 14 in the hamlet of Vistula, Indiana on the Indiana/Michigan border. These classic target light signals on this portion of the Kalamazoo Branch are not long for this world.

Once the bear was gone, I bravely continued on the trail and came across our old buddy from earlier.
I promise, if you look hard enough (you might need to cross your eyes or adjust the contrast), you'll see a porcupine hiding in this picture.
During 1983 Soo Line business at Roseport was so brisk one could find a transfer headed that way at any time. On May 24, 1983 this extra transfer led by GP30's 706 and 716 was passing through the former CGW property along the bluff at State Street in St Paul to meet another job at Roseport.

A beautiful creek near the Great Sacandaga Lake. Almost ran off the road trying to look for a nice little creek to photography. The fresh New York air was amazing. The temperature was a nice 61 degrees in June, That's crazy!!

High Point, the summit of the Kittatinny Ridge, rises 1,803 feet above sea level — the highest elevation in the state of New Jersey.
Atop the mountain’s summit is the High Point Monument, dedicated to New Jersey’s veterans. This monument and the more than 16,000 acres that comprised High Point State Park were the generous gifts of Anthony and Susie Dryden Kuser in 1923.

New York City lights and reflections with the Empire State building viewed at night under the deck of the George Washington Bridge. I know I posted a similar image before, but when i was working on this variation, I looked it up on the map and found out that the Empire State building is actually around 10 miles from this viewpoint! I've never seen it up close, but it must be quite a building :)
