May 3, 2016: Over the last six months, risks to global financial stability have risen, according to the International Monetary Fund’s April 2016 Global Financial Stability Report. In advanced economies, the outlook has deteriorated because of heightened uncertainty and setbacks to growth and confidence. Disruptions to global asset markets have added to these pressures. Declines in oil and commodity prices have kept risks elevated in emerging markets, while greater uncertainty about China’s growth transition has increased spillovers to global markets. These developments tightened financial conditions, reduced risk appetite, and raised credit risks, weighing on financial stability. The situation in markets appears significantly improved, but is the turmoil of the past months now safely behind us, or is it a warning signal that more needs to be done to secure financial stability? The IMF’s April 2016 GFSR addresses this key question and many others.

No matter what, I am never turned away from his door... only welcomed in with loving arms and I will love you forever. He is my Home sweet Home.

A Stable rock in the wading sea, that is me... unmoved, yet forever flowing with my tides. In and out as they are... he is always there. Fingers to fill the empty spaces between mine... a hand to hold... a shoulder to cry on... a soul to grow old with... forever mine... forever there. He holds me up when I haven't the strength. My anchor, my pillar, my love, my children's father, my husband, my Stable rock in the wading sea that is me.
Love...
Like our children, grows with each passing year. We nourish, feed, and protect our love. In moments of laughter and joy, moments of sorrow or pain, in moments of disagreement or closeness, in moments of silence where words aren't even needed... that is where Love lives, grows. In the everyday of life. In making morning coffee, in doing the dishes, or rubbing my feet after a long day. There... in those moments my Love is forever growing.

Protestors blocked the entrance to the Boston Housing Court to protest evictions, foreclosures and the resumption of eviction filings Massachusetts. The protesters chanted “shut it down,” as seven individuals locked arms in front of the court house entrance. A larger group of protesters in front of the court carried signs urging lawmakers to pass the Guaranteed Housing Stability Act which would extend a moratorium on evictions and foreclosures for a year after the state’s COVID-19 emergency declaration expires. A prior ban on evictions and foreclosures enacted by the legislature expired on October 17. The Boston Municipal Court is where the majority of the 40,0000 housing evictions every year in Massachusetts are processed.

Climate change in Southeast Asia has been becoming a threat to agricultural production, food security, ecological stability, and sustainable development. Realizing the ongoing climate change issues, ASEAN Member States (AMS) together with international and national research agencies, and the private sector further continue working hand-in-hand to promote Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices to increase the resilience of the agriculture sector to the changing climate. From this background, the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN-CRN) Workshop on Promoting CSA Practices was held from 27-28 October 2015 at the Sheraton Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The two-day workshop served as way forward to promote the prioritized best CSA practices among AMS.
The workshop is led by the Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) through its Department of Agriculture (DOA) in its capacity as the current chair of the ASEAN-CRN, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam as host. The German-ASEAN Programme on Response to Climate Change (GAP-CC) – implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat, provided support for this event, along with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

The 10th anniversary of former Libya’s leader Moamer Khadhafi comes as the country prepares for December elections, part of a United Nations-led peace process that some hope will help start a new, more peaceful chapter in Libya's history.
Since Gaddafi’s demise, Libya has fractured along regional and ideological lines, with an assortment of mafia-like militias and their foreign backers vying for control of the oil-rich country.
"In regards to the situation in Libya in the last 10 years since the death of Moamer Khadhafi, the county went through phases. At first, the situation was good, but then things started to get worse a bit by bit until we got to now," said Issam el-Mejri, a Tripoli businessman.
"After that 10 years have passed since the death of Khadhafi, we're currently living in conflict due to a failure in crisis management," said Abdelfattah Benour, a Tripoli civil servant.
Many Libyans hope that the upcoming elections will help solve the crisis.
The presidential poll is set for December 24 and the legislative elections in January.
"We are hoping that the elections of the 24th of December will lead to a better life and to political stability and security, as well as a civil transition to a state of law," said Ahmed al-Rashrash, Libyan analyst.
Khadhafi ruled Libya with an iron fist for 42 years after a 1969 coup against the monarchy, portraying himself as a revolutionary, Arab and African hero while mercilessly crushing all opposition.

Advancing women’s empowerment contributes to national stability, says DSRSG Walpole at International Women’s Day celebration
Baghdad, 07 March 2019 – International Women’s Day was celebrated today at an event organized by the Directorate for the Empowerment of Iraqi Women at the Council of Ministers.
The event, which was supported by UN Women and the International Medical Corps, was attended by senior Iraqi government officials, including the two Deputy Speakers of the Council of Representatives, human rights activists, civil society representatives, the international community and many others.
Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (DSRSG) Alice Walpole addressed the meeting, along with Dr. Mahdi Al-Allaq, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, who represented the Prime Minister; Dr. Thikra Alwash, Mayor of Baghdad and Chair of the Standing Committee on the Advancement of Women; UN Women’s Representative, Ms. Dina Zorba and UNFPA Representative, Dr. Oluremi Sogunro; as well as the Director-General of the Directorate for the Empowerment of Iraqi Women, Dr. Ibtisam Aziz.
In her remarks, DSRSG Walpole welcomed the upcoming discussions in Parliament on updating the Anti-Domestic Violence Law. “We need to acknowledge that domestic violence diminishes and shames all of society; it is a threat not just to women but to society itself,” she emphasised.
Reflecting on the challenges facing displaced women across Iraq, DSRSG Walpole noted that “They continue to suffer the brutal consequences of the recent conflict”.
“Female-headed households should be prioritised in accessing public services,” she said, and called on the Ministries of Defence and Interior, and the National Operations Command, to “to ensure that secure clearance mechanisms are coordinated among security actors to minimize re-screening of individuals already screened; and to consider removing security clearance requirements for civilians who have not been charged with a criminal or terrorism-related offence, so they do not face obstacles in accessing public services, including civil registries and courts”.
DSRSG Walpole also noted the high unemployment rate amongst young women, which is double that of men. She called on the government to “offer small business grants to female entrepreneurs to help them into the business arena, in particular to women returnees in the liberated areas, and those heading households”.
“Advancing women’s economic empowerment in this way will contribute to the government’s efforts to achieve national stability,” she noted.
