This was at one point a warehouse for a local furniture company. The facility also housed manufacturing. It’s in the river north historical industrial district in Saint Louis, MO. USA. Thanks for getting a look with me.

It’s remarkably difficult to capture the full on fury of a storm in a single image. There are so many things happening at once that it becomes hard to focus- from technical aspects such as composition and camera stability in the face of violent and unpredictable gusts to the obvious dangers of shooting coastal scenes on an incoming tide. This is storm Atiyah, which brought 80mph winds and huge seas to the west coast of Britain in early December 2019. Shot about an hour or so from high tide on the rocks below the sea wall at Porthcawl, it was probably the most scared I’ve been in the last 6 years of photography. And despite being confidant that the sea direction and wind was pushing the huge swells just in front of me, 25 years of windsurfing have taught me to have absolute respect for the sheer unpredictability of the sea.

This may not be a pretty landscape but it’s one for all of you Flickr friends who have supported my stream over the years.

The Peacock of the day is very widespread, it has an average size of 50-60 mm wingspan, and is one of the most beautiful butterflies in France ...

Unlike many species, it does not exhibit geographic or seasonal variations, resulting in remarkable morphological stability over its entire area. The species most often has 2 generations per year, except in the mountains where it reaches 2500 m, and has only one.

Thanks for your visit, faves, and kind comments!

This is not an image constructed in Photoshop. My son-in-law likes building this kind of tricky balanced stone structures, so he built this one on our hike in Algonquin provincial park.

Wishing you to find and keep your balance between staying safe and enjoying your life in these tricky Covid times!

A place I have been to many times, now comes alive as the late afternoon sun lights the west facing rocks. Taking advantage of the side lighting, many compositions were attempted. However, this is the one that best illustrates the moment.

That one short strip of cloud skirting the horizon, was the single item that made this shot balance. Without it, the image would not have equal weight. Such a small element, and yet the one touch that provides stability.

One love is one of the best-known reggae songs. The 1977 release by Bob Marley and The Wailers talks about coming together and being of one heart.

His message is let's get together and forget our divisions, we can work at this still today and it is even more important to work at it today than it was when he wrote it.

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

Handheld le in the Copenhagen Metro, Denmark.

Did some adjustments to contrast, noise, sharpness and color. See untouched raw file below.

The problems I had with stray light in the start I fixed by zooming in and I also used my Copenhagen map to form a cylinder and holding it around the lens. This helped a lot on the reflections from the glass.

For stability I pushed the lens towards the windshield. I guess for even better results you should bring a black blanket and some duct tape. (You could replace the duct tape with an assistant, whichever is the easiest) Expect some staring either way.

I bought a day pass and did 5 rides back and forth the M2. I got of and turned when the line left the underground. All done in an hour or so.

Update: Thanks a lot for the kind comments today! changed the title around a bit. Couldn't really nail this one. However the image is probably enough alone:p Easy way out was just quoting Enrico Fermi.. Further reading here: waitbutwhy.com/2014/05/fermi-paradox.html

Wiki:

Copenhagen Metro (Danish: Københavns Metro) is a rapid transit system serving the cities of Copenhagen, Frederiksberg, and Tårnby in Greater Copenhagen, Denmark.

The 20.4-kilometre (12.7 mi) system opened between 2002 and 2007, and has two lines, M1 and M2. The driverless light metro supplements the larger S-train rapid transit system, and is integrated with DSB local trains and Movia buses. Through the city center and west to Frederiksberg, M1 and M2 share a common line. To the southeast, the system serves Amager, with the 13.9-kilometre (8.6 mi) M1 running though the new neighborhood of Ørestad, and the 14.2-kilometre (8.8 mi) M2 serving the eastern neighborhoods and Copenhagen Airport. The metro has 22 stations, of which nine are underground. In 2013, the metro carried 55 million passengers.

When everything changes and new ‘normals’ become routine. ....And though the seasons change quite dramatically where I live there is definitely comfort and stability in their cyclic repetition.

Founded in 1900, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) is one of the oldest and largest such chambers in Hong Kong. CGCC aims to serve the community and, advancing with time, to maintain Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability, reaching out to the world with its roots in Hong Kong and backing from the Motherland.

Anchored in Hong Kong, CGCC strives to build a business, economic and trading platform and safeguard business interests. At present, it has a membership of nearly 6,000, comprising association, company, individual and affiliate members. With businesses covering a wide spectrum of industrial and commercial activities, CGCC’s members form a strong and broad business network.

The Mercedes F-400

was a dramatic concept from 2001.

The F-400 carries the name 'carving' because its outer two wheels lean into the corner in a similar manner to skiiers carving their outside ski inward to improve cornering stability.

Today at one of the Goodwill stores on our thrift route, we found a nice little KidKraft dollhouse, with the furniture, a doll family and some extras.

We also found bags of Rainbow High dolls crazy cheap but that's another photo.

Anyway, CM was lugging stuff as usual and it suddenly reminded me of a photo from 14 years ago at the flea market:

www.flickr.com/photos/cmultra/5002648065/

That caused me to think this would be a fun modern parallel photo.

Things haven't changed! CM's still a good sport about being a grown man toting dollhouses around. 😄

It also caused me to give thanks to God for consistency in life. In a fallen world of deceit and violence, it doesn't just happen that we live in such a stable society that 14 years later, we're still enjoying toy photography.

It is the grace of God in His kindness towards our nation through our Savior, the Lord, Christ Jesus. 😊 🙏

Don't change! Keep enjoying toys! And give thanks. 😊

PREFACE

"SHADHINOTA is My Cause for the 40th Celebration of BANGLADESH Independence. The land, the mighty rivers and the natural beauty makes Bangladesh a land of unparalleled splendor and magnificence. Bangladesh was liberated after a prolonged war of Independence the declaration of which was given on 26th MARCH 1971. One of the worst genocides Genocide in history took place at the behest of an autocratic regime in the name of Political stability spearheaded by the then Pakistan President Yah ya Khan. After 9 months of Liberation water and the sacrifice of 3 million lives Victory came. In addition to the loss of lives countless others were rendered homeless, the infrastructure including roads and bridges and factories lay in ruins. The people of Bangladesh have shown time and again how resilient they are. After each and every disaster, natural or man-made the people have again stood up and started all over again from scratch.

My Effort here is to pay tribute to the valiant sons of the soil and the ‘die hard’ attitude of a people who can still smile in the face of adversity however great it may be. I plan to make a collage of images that represent the lives of the people of Bangladesh. I encourage you to upload a photo each day till I have a total of 40 images for the Cause SHADHINOTA in the group Frame BANGLADESH"

• Securing Europe’s subsea infrastructure is more critical than ever as undersea cables form the backbone of global connectivity, carrying 99% of international data. These cables are vital for communication, commerce, and national security. Growing geopolitical tensions, cyber threats, and risks of sabotage make them vulnerable targets, potentially disrupting economies and critical services. As Europe’s dependence on digital infrastructure increases, ensuring the resilience and security of these cables is essential to safeguard data integrity, prevent economic losses, and maintain global stability in an interconnected world. Robust protection strategies are now imperative.

Ludovico Einaudi - In Memory Of A Dream

This photograph stirs within me a profound contemplation on the transience of existence. Life, by its very nature, is fluid and unpredictable. Yet most of us cling to the illusion of permanence, believing—despite countless contradictions—that the present moment will stretch endlessly into the future. Whether this delusion is a blessing or a curse remains unclear, but it undeniably obscures the truth: our universe thrives on impermanence.

From the microscopic oscillations of atoms to the colossal dance of galaxies, every layer of reality is a dynamic system governed by an infinite web of variables. Even the brief spans of perceived stability—a calm decade in a human life, a millennia of tectonic quiet on Earth, or a billion-year equilibrium in a star—are mere pauses in an eternal symphony of change. Yet our mortal lifespan, confined to a flicker of cosmic time, limits our ability to witness these grand transformations. Few of us will see mountains rise or glaciers reclaim continents. Even the volcanic eruptions and storms that once awed our ancestors now feel like distant myths, buried under the noise of modern life.

This raises a haunting question: How much of the world’s metamorphosis goes unseen by our eyes—or unacknowledged by our minds? We are inundated with information, yet our consciousness filters out the vast majority. Worse still, many of us retreat into virtual realms, where curated images and algorithms numb us to the subtle, relentless shifts in the physical world. In this digital haze, even the climate crisis or the erosion of ecosystems can feel abstract—a problem for "later" or "others." But this disconnection, this refusal to engage with impermanence, is its own kind of peril.

Returning to the photograph, taken years ago during a period I once deemed "dark" and unbearable, I now see it through a startling lens: those were the good old days. The mere fact that I captured the moment—that I had the capacity to frame beauty amid struggle—proves it. Herein lies a paradox: our sharpest clarity often arrives only in hindsight. We romanticize the past, dread the future, and overlook the agency we hold in the present.

And so, the photograph becomes a metaphor. It reminds us that every "now" is a thread in the tapestry of memory.

While we cannot control the universe’s variables, we can choose how to inhabit our fleeting moments. To act with intention. To savor the warmth of sunlight, the laughter of a friend, the quiet courage to endure. These choices—these conscious stitches in time—are what transform the mundane into the meaningful. They become the stories we tell, the photos we revisit, the wisdom we pass on.

What if we treated each day as both a relic of the past and a seed for the future? What fleeting wonders might we notice? What burdens might we release? The answers, like the universe itself, are ever-evolving—but the power to shape them begins here, in the breath between reflection and action.
