Photographs (Negative Scans)

Sound / Text

After several conversations and research about my grandparents past - mostly World War II - I was lucky to receive all (original) negatives of my grandfathers’ archive (from about 1950-1990). While scanning them I discovered that they all had one thing in common: Every year, throughout the whole childhood of my dad, my grand-father took photographs in the summer holidays in Italy as well as on Christmas Eve.

Instead of creating an artwork about World War II I decided that it was equally interesting to show the photographs my grandparents took so eagerly with so much regularity as a result of their childhood.

The basic idea is to create a time line with these photographs (Summer- Christmas- Summer- Christmas...) to show that rhythm/ tradition / regularity and the analysis of the relation between trauma and stability shown in a audio file.

Right now I’m working on that visual timeline- choosing the most suitable images as well as on the text I want to present next to them. Therefore I will have a conversation with my father who’s working as a psychiatrist where he will be talking about the rela- tion between (childhood) trauma and traditions/ repetition/ stability in their life afterwards. On the one hand he can talk about it as a professional on the other hand as the child of the traumatized people. In a further moment I might go visit my grand-parents again to talk to them about their childhood.

I would love to record these conversations and show them next to the images. If they don’t want me to record them I will have to take notes and write a text which would be either read and recorded and shown as an audio or exhibited in a printed format.

Climate change in Southeast Asia has been becoming a threat to agricultural production, food security, ecological stability, and sustainable development. Realizing the ongoing climate change issues, ASEAN Member States (AMS) together with international and national research agencies, and the private sector further continue working hand-in-hand to promote Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices to increase the resilience of the agriculture sector to the changing climate. From this background, the ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN-CRN) Workshop on Promoting CSA Practices was held from 27-28 October 2015 at the Sheraton Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The two-day workshop served as way forward to promote the prioritized best CSA practices among AMS.

The workshop is led by the Thailand Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) through its Department of Agriculture (DOA) in its capacity as the current chair of the ASEAN-CRN, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) of Vietnam as host. The German-ASEAN Programme on Response to Climate Change (GAP-CC) – implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with the ASEAN Secretariat, provided support for this event, along with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

@usconsvancouver: #DYK Secretary Tillerson’s trip to Canada will be his first official trip of 2018? Secretary Tillerson will travel to Vancouver today to co-host the Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Security and Stability on the Korean Peninsula with Canadian Foreign Minister @cafreeland.

I've been carving some rubber stamps. I'm not the world's best carver, in fact, I suck royally at it, but hey, it's all about fun and expression, isn't it? I'm sure enjoying it!

Just blocks from the new $412 million Target Field, areas of the North Loop remain blighted. Undoubtedly, redevelopment will occur, but as of now, it is still laced with disparity.
