To ensure safety and stability of the boats competing in the Volvo Ocean Race, each is put through a series of tests and measurements to comply with the Volvo Open 70 Rule. The boats are evaluated both on and off the water in order to produce boats that are seaworthy and suitable for long distance racing, along with being fast and easily driven. Among those measurements is the pull down test. With a halyard attached to a point on the shore, the boat is wound down to a heel of approximately 50 degrees while the keel is canted fully to the same side. The automatic keel centering mechanism is then activated to make sure the system works and the boat returns upright.
A member of the Volvo Open 70 Measurement Group visited the PUMA Ocean Racing training base in Lanzarote, Spain, last week to put PUMA’s Mar Mostro through the pull down test. It’s ready to race.

Jailbreak Brewing is scheduled to open to the public in April 2014. It will be Howard County's first-ever production brewery. When I visited in early March 2014, construction of the tap room was underway, but beer was already fermenting in the tanks.

On 4th July 2023, we hosted a delegation from #EUROCORPS Civil-Military Cooperation CIMIC Branch (G9).
The meeting was dedicated to familiarization of both organisations' roles and capabilities and to discuss potential cooperation and support to EUROCORPS G9 responsibilities and tasks during the NATO Joint Task Force HQ 2024 and the HQ Force for EU Battle Group 2025 periods.

Protestors blocked the entrance to the Boston Housing Court to protest evictions, foreclosures and the resumption of eviction filings Massachusetts. The protesters chanted “shut it down,” as seven individuals locked arms in front of the court house entrance. A larger group of protesters in front of the court carried signs urging lawmakers to pass the Guaranteed Housing Stability Act which would extend a moratorium on evictions and foreclosures for a year after the state’s COVID-19 emergency declaration expires. A prior ban on evictions and foreclosures enacted by the legislature expired on October 17. The Boston Municipal Court is where the majority of the 40,0000 housing evictions every year in Massachusetts are processed.

This event was open to the Manor College community and the greater Philadelphia Ukrainian community.

Emperor Wanli’s tomb was named Tomb of Stability. I’m afraid that the emperor was hoping for a peaceful and tranquil afterlife of his own. Or perhaps it was to praise his reign when his people enjoyed such benefits. Nevertheless the tomb probably had costed much more than necessary and caused a heavy burden on the people after all. I marveled at its artistic merits, but at the same time wishes it were simpler.
