Willemstad is the capital city of Curaçao, an island in the southern Caribbean Sea that forms a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Formerly the capital of the Netherlands Antilles prior to its dissolution in 2010, it has an estimated population of 150,000. The historic centre of the city consists of four quarters: the Punda and Otrobanda, which are separated by the Sint Anna Bay, an inlet that leads into the large natural harbour called the Schottegat, as well as the Scharloo and Pietermaai Smal quarters, which are across from each other on the smaller Waaigat harbour. Willemstad is home to the Curaçao synagogue, the oldest surviving synagogue in the Americas. The city centre, with its unique architecture and harbour entry, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Insel Air, the national airline of Curaçao, had its corporate head office in Maduro Plaza.

Tourism is a major industry and the city has several casinos. The city centre of Willemstad has an array of colonial architecture that is influenced by Dutch styles. Archaeological research has also been developed there.

Owing to its location near the Venezuelan oilfields, its political stability and its natural deep water harbour, Willemstad became the site of an important seaport and refinery. Willemstad's harbour is one of the largest oil handling ports in the Caribbean. The refinery, at one point the largest in the world, was originally built and owned by Royal Dutch Shell in 1915.

The four companies comprising the Royal Dutch Shell refining operation; the actual refinery, oil bunkering, the tugboat company (KTK) and the local distribution of refined products (CurOli/Gas) were each sold to the government of Curaçao in 1985 for the symbolic sum of one guilder per company, or a total of 4 guilders and is now leased to PDVSA, the state owned Venezuelan oil company. Schlumberger, the world's largest oil field services company is incorporated in Willemstad.

Numerous financial institutions are incorporated in Willemstad due to Curaçao's favourable tax policies.

The Avalon University School of Medicine is located in Willemstad. The Caribbean Medical University is also located in Willemstad, close to the city centre.

Major League Baseball players Jair Jurrjens, Wladimir Balentien, Jurickson Profar, Andruw Jones, Ozzie Albies, Kenley Jansen and Jonathan Schoop are from Willemstad.

Pabao Little League has appeared in five Little League World Series, winning in 2004. They were crowned the International Champions in 2019 after a victory over Japan. They were defeated 8-0 in the World Championship by River Ridge, Louisiana. In 2008, another Pabao Little League team won the Junior League World Series, after winning the Latin America Region, then defeating the Asia-Pacific Region and Mexico Region champions to become the International champion, and finally defeating the U.S. champion (West Region), Hilo American/National LL (Hilo, Hawaii), 5-2.

Willemstad is served by Curaçao International Airport, located 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) north of the city, which is annually used by about two million passengers.

Wisdom and Knowledge Shall Be The Stability of Times

after twelve years of some stability, if not to say some enforced immobility in North Carolina, i'm free to travel again. in fact, i'm forced to travel, as i am losing my home and must find a new one. due to global warming, which we all know doesn't exist, it's too darn hot in North Carolina. so i'm moving north, where the days often are cooler. some people claim they have snow too. i suppose i can survive snow.

but meanwhile i intend to take a little trip. or two. or three. if you would be willing to host me, put me up for a day or two in a spare bedroom, let me sleep on a couch, or even pitch a tent in your backyard, please let me know, via Flickrmail. or if you would just like to meet for a coffee, should i pass through your burg, that would be great. i am, quite literally, going to be searching for America, and Americans. hope i find you out there somewhere.

Jambhala is the God of Wealth and appropriately a member of the Jewel Family. In Hindu mythology, Jambhala is known as Kubera. Jambhala is also believed to be an emanation of Avalokitesvara or Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. There are five different wealth Jambhalas; each has his own practice and mantra to help eliminate poverty and create financial stability.

Gyalten Sogdzin Rinpoche said that Jambhala is the protector of all Lineages and of all sentient beings from all sickness and difficulties. Jambhala is a Bodhisattva of material and spiritual wealth as well as many other things, especially of granting financial stability.

”Because in this world, there are all kinds of wrathful and negative emotions or bad spirits, and sometimes they will harm you and other sentient beings, Dzambhala must take on such a wrathful and powerful form to protect us from these harmful spirits and negative karma. Especially, Dzambhala helps us minimize or decrease all misfortunes and obstacles and helps us increase all good fortune and happiness.”

The Falcon contains 561 pieces.

The main purpose of this build is to display it on your desk or shelf, so I built an additional all-black stand to securely display the Falcon in an angled position, featuring my own logo.

I designed additional Landing Gear and a removable Landing Ramp to display the Falcon on it's own.

Very important for me was to design the Falcon and display stand in a very sturdy and robust way, so you can really swoosh around the Falcon without having to worry about the stability at any point.

Thanks to one of my flickr contacts I know know this building is called Blaak 8 and the Architects were Group A and Dreissen Architecten. It's the headquarters for the Dutch Energy Company Stedin.

From the archello.com/project/offices-blaak-8 website : "The structure of a tree with its natural constructional logic, has been the inspiration for the facade design. At the top, where the forces are relatively small, the tree exists of thin twigs. At the bottom, where the forces from the entire crown come together and must be carried, the trunk of the tree looks broad and strong. It is this natural structure that has served as inspiration for the load-bearing facade of Blaak 8. On the lower floors heavy piers reflect the 'tree-trunks' which extend upwardly branching out into smaller piers that reflect the 'tree-tops'. The tower owes its stability to this diagonal fluttering 'branches'. The unconventional facade structure ensures the building to be experienced as abstract from various viewpoints, and from other positions the tree structure to be clearly visible."

Khao Hin Thoen Stone Park is located in Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the narrowest part of Thailand, which is only 15 kilometers wide, close to the border with Myanmar Burma. Khao Hin Theun Stone Park is a hilly area where many large granite stones are stacked naturally. The fact that these large rocks appear to remain balanced despite their size and weight reminds us of the delicate balance and stability in nature. It is a reminder of the forces of nature and the unique geological processes that create such formations. These formations are often the result of centuries of geological processes, including erosion, sedimentation, landslides and other forces. It's amazing how nature can create these complex structures over time. From the top of the hill you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand and the surrounding coastline. Just a few kilometers away, at the Singkhon checkpoint, is the border with Myanmar; a route with rich historical significance as it once served as a military trail during the late Ayutthaya period. At the summit there is also a secluded temple built between three large massive granite boulders. Essentially an open cave, this temple is a hidden gem maintained by a lone monk. This venerable monk, now 78 years old, has been living here in solitude for more than 40 years. The temple and living area are built into the large boulders. Surrounded by lush green forests, this open temple cave also offers an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility. Hiking trails are available for those who want to enjoy the natural environment. The peaceful surroundings and natural beauty make it a popular place for meditation and contemplation.

Khao Hin Thoen Stone Park, situated near Hua Hin,. The park is a remarkable natural wonder where numerous colossal boulders are ingeniously stacked, creating an extraordinary and unique attraction. Next to the granite boulders I find a beautiful flower. The Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, also known as the Chinese hibiscus, is a tropical flowering plant known for its beautiful, vibrant flowers. These flowers are not only visually attractive, but also play a crucial ecological role because they are nectar productive. A sugary liquid that serves as a food source for various pollinators, including bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other insects. Nectar is essential to the survival of these pollinators because it gives them the energy they need for flight and sustenance. As these pollinators land on the flowers to collect nectar, they inadvertently transfer pollen from one flower to another, facilitating the plant's reproductive process.

The marauder leader looks anxiously at the hangar's blast door. He doesn’t know why the intruder bordered his ship. Maybe he is some sort of vigilante or some bounty hunter but he doesn’t care.

Surely he can’t stand a chance against all the men he sent to kill him.

He continues to look at the blast door. No sound can pass through the sound-proof bulkhead and all he can do is to wait.

A blueish, feeble light colors the corridor.

“Some of you idiots fix those energy grid problems!” he yells but nobody can hear him because communications went offline the moment they were bordered.

Everything is going wrong today. Not even his fancy view screen is working properly.

“Damn! Why the colors are greenish! That star is supposed to be yellow! If they didn’t fix it soon I’ll kill them! I can’t miss today episode of Captain Phasma’s Trash Compactor Chronicles series!” he shouts at he does not even know who. Nobody is listening.

Bad day and the intruder is going to pay for that.

A violent impact shakes the blast door. Once…twice..then a blast.

From the breach on the bulkhead emerges a fully armored figure. The corridor’s lighting makes him even more fearsome.

The marauder tries to crawl away but an armored hand grabs him.

“Not so fast. It’s question time” say the armored man…

The action figure is Starcraft Tychus sixth scale figure from Sideshow.

It’s a truly impressive piece, standing over 39cm (about 15.5”) high with countless details, many points of articulation, light up parts etc.

It has some drawback due to its size: under certain circumstances stability ca be problematic and posing the huge assault rifle is painful sometimes but it’s still one of the most impressive collectibles I own :) It’s a very particular item and I’m still getting accustomed to it :)

The background image is courtesy of NASA/JPL-Caltech and free to use according to NASA own image policy. Thank You very much NASA :)

Just one more note on the action figure :) You may have noticed one of the many details they put on the armor is, well let’s call it “a not so politically correct” phrase lol :)

It’s a just a slang phrase said before firing weapons (I made some research so I’m sure lol :) ) and it appears to be a reference to the famous Duke Nukem video game :)

They put it there because it’s exactly what appeared on his armor in the the video game. The character is not a very politically correct lol :)

If it disturbs you let me know, I can remove it during editing.

Personally I don’t think it’s a huge problem, in the end it’s just humor, but let me know :)

Anyway I already wrote a wall of text lol, so let’s focus on the photo :)

I hope you like it:)

It's been a while since I've done more than with this inner frame than just tweak my existing models, so when I decided to start on a new one I felt it was past time for a revamp. The bricked version is coming soon (I hope), but I'm pretty pleased with the changes I've made to the IF.

Ball-joint-based hips mean enhanced stability (especially compared to the old tap/clip based ones) and padlock plate-based elbows offer a new level of articulation in the arms (though at the cost of wrist rotation). The lower legs, shoulders and torso are unchanged from the original.

Two different views of Love & Stability by Reilly Creative.

Husband and wife duo Reilly Creative’s design has taken inspiration from Southampton’s flag, designed in 2017. It depicts an anchor and a Tudor rose. They have taken these elements and with a nod to the beautiful windows that can be found in Saint Marys Church, have turned them into a stained-glass effect design. We have called it Love, to represent the delicate rose and Stability, for the strength of an anchor.

Sponsored by Southampton Hospitals Charity

Over the summer of 2024, Southampton Hospitals Charity will be lighting up the South with a large-scale public art event that promises to captivate your senses and ignite your imagination.

There will be 40 8ft magnificent lighthouse sculptures on display through the streets and public spaces of Southampton and Cowes, each one a unique masterpiece designed by artists both local and well renowned, plus 40 mini lighthouses designed by local education groups, creating a family-friendly trail of discovery for visitors and residents to enjoy and explore.

The lighthouses will then be displayed together for a Farewell event in September 2024 which will be a chance to see all lighthouses gathered in one place, a truly unique sight. The sculptures will then go into auction to raise vital funds for Southampton Children’s Hospital.

After a few years of stability, the Cardiff Bus fleet is now seeing a number of interesting changes, with the first batch out of a total of 36 electric Yutongs soon due as replacements for the remaining Transbus and Alexander Dennis Darts, and the remining Scania OmniCity artics.

The first sign of the fleet changes came earlier this year with the acquisition of a dozen Mercedes Citaros from Bus Vannin (numbered 141-52) to see off a number of the Darts and some of the 10 original shape Alexander Dennis Enviro300s. The withdrawal programme has been hastrened by the arrival of four Alexander Dennis E20D MMCs on hire from Mistral (numbered 271-4) and five Wright Solar-bodied Scania L94UBs and K230UBs (numbered 768-72) from Go South Coast's Swindon depot.

My photograph focuses on the latter and shows Scania K230UB 772 cruising down Westgate Street in the City Centre in October 2021. She is distinctive in carrying an all-over blue livery, whilst others retain blue and green.

Dead leaves herald an end, but it's an annual beginning for another cycle: the transformation of dead matter into elements that can be assimilated by plants. This transformation is just as important as the conversion of light energy through photosynthesis, since it involves the soil microfauna making available the mineral compounds needed for tree growth. So in the 🌳oak- beech grove🌳, what appears to be age-old stability is merely the result of a complex machinery gifted with the ability to transform.

*Working Towards a Better World

I have been thinking long and hard about why our present day psyche has changed so drastically and have come to the conclusion that we are bringing up our children to focus on the ego, rather than the community. It seems to me that we put too much emphasis on material things and not enough on the spiritual or the whole. Yes, we need to teach our children to succeed and do their best but not at any cost without caring about others. We seem to encourage greed rather than sharing, perhaps we need to concentrate more on cherishing each other, our climate and the environment. When we work as a team we produce more through the sharing of ideas and creativity.

We need to coexist better, be more understanding, less critical, more open, less closed. Together we can achieve a great deal more than alone.

I have chosen the colours black and green because of their meaning found on the Color Pro: Color Meaning website:

www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html

"Green

Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.

Green

"Green has great healing power. It is the most restful color for the human eye; it can improve vision. Green suggests stability and endurance. Sometimes green denotes lack of experience; for example, a 'greenhorn' is a novice. In heraldry, green indicates growth and hope. Green, as opposed to red, means safety; it is the color of free passage in road traffic.

Use green to indicate safety when advertising drugs and medical products. Green is directly related to nature, so you can use it to promote 'green' products. Dull, darker green is commonly associated with money, the financial world, banking, and Wall Street.

Dark green is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy.

Yellow-green can indicate sickness, cowardice, discord, and jealousy.

Aqua is associated with emotional healing and protection.

Olive green is the traditional color of peace".

Black

"Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery.

Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown (black holes). It usually has a negative connotation (blacklist, black humor, 'black death'). Black denotes strength and authority; it is considered to be a very formal, elegant, and prestigious color (black tie, black Mercedes). In heraldry, black is the symbol of grief".

Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth, but a black background diminishes readability. A black suit or dress can make you look thinner. When designing for a gallery of art or photography, you can use a black or gray background to make the other colors stand out. Black contrasts well with bright colors. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme.

Interestingly I have followed a few articles written by the New York Times columnist, David Brooks, who has written recently 3 interesting articles about this subject, On April 7th he wrote an article entitled

"What Candidates Need",

www.nytimes.com/2015/04/07/opinion/david-brooks-what-cand...

then on April 11th he wrote an article entitled

"The Moral Bucket List"

www.nytimes.com/2015/04/12/opinion/sunday/david-brooks-th...

and finally today he wrote an article entitled

"When Cultures Shift"

www.nytimes.com/2015/04/17/opinion/david-brooks-when-cult...

I find that David addresses many of my concerns quite well in these articles so decided to share them with you.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo❤️

Its what we all need right now, well that and for Monday morning to f**k right off.

Happy new year, friends!

It is certainly another happy one for me. People I care about are doing well, work is steady, the house is fine, and our dog continues to manage us according to her daily routine. Stability. Predictability. Contentment. Joy.

These and other things are the anchor for our dreams and aspirations, as they are released in the maelstrom of the world like leaves in the wind.

I hope to get some Alex time in February. I was unable to get out to meet with friends last month, and this month is busy. Keystone is coming up, and 2-3 days there have been penciled in. I look forward to that.

Veliki Draški vrh is not a difficult summit and is for ski touring also a very nice one. But on this ascent we were in doubts if snow stability is safe enough for the summit ascent. In 2085 we still didn't have any standard equipment (shovel, etc.), so my friend was using skis to cut a block of snow to test it. Anyway, we turned around and still had a nice ski tour. (dia scan)

This is a '63 Nova, heavily modified for drag racing. Its "killer feature" is the hinged front bodywork, allowing easy access to the engine bay. It was a bit of a challenge trying to implement this without compromising the structural stability of the thing, but it remains a very strong and playable model, so I'm pleased! I resisted the urge to put racing stripes or a 2-tone livery on this one because I figured it would actually be more unique and interesting to have an entirely dark azure car. As a consolation prize, it does at least spit fire.

During testing, the stability augmentation system required a lot of fine-tuning. Although the Arrow was not the first aircraft to use such a system, it was one of the first to use a three axes system that other aircraft did not and was consequently problematic. But, this was not the only advanced system developed for the Arrow. Avro’s engineers had created the first non-experimental fly-by-wire control system in an aircraft and a nvaigational computer that used real-time telemetry. The Arrow’s thin wings also nbecessitated the first 4,000 lb/in2 (28 MPa) hydraulic system to supply enough force to the control surfaces using small actuators and piping. The fly-by-wire system used the pilot’s inputs to activate a series of pressure-sensitive transducers in the control stick that sent the signal to an electronic control servo that operated the valves in the hydraulic system to move the various flight controls. This resulted in a lack of control feel so to recreate the mechanical sense, the same electronic control box partly responded to the hydraulic back-pressure fluctuations and triggered actuators in the stick, making it move slightly. Test pilots came to call this “artifical feel” and was an aviation first.

In this image, RL-203 shoots through the skies in southern Ontario. All of the flight tests were conducted at Malton airport. However, on 2 February 1959, a TCA Viscount passenger airplane crash-landed in Toronto, nessistating the test flight be diverted and landing at CFB Trenton. Note the wing fences extending from the dog-tooth to control airflow over the wing. The fences for swept-wing aircraft keep airflow from bleeding to the wingtips and creating a nose-down pitching moment, thus preventing the entire wing from stalling. Soviet aircraft designers employed this technique on several of their aircraft; Western examples are limited.

I have been going through all million of the shots i took in July of anything and everything...debated about a few different ones for week 3. It is still very tough sometimes to get in front of the camera...with a 20 sec timer you can start giggling about things that make you laugh.

it has been a tough month for me, probably more emotional than most...but I don't hold onto it for long. I could go a year, maybe 2 without shedding a tear. Even to me it sounds cold as i type it...but so not true at all. I have a real hard time crying and a real hard time letting people see me cry or know about it...maybe that is why i have laughed harder this month than most. One of my biggest things is I believe to a degree in attracting what energy you give, i believe that if I stay with a sad thought....more will follow. I have to dump it out one way or another, and it is usually through art. Photography is such gratifying art when it comes to this. I would be painting for 1000 years the pictures I would need to paint for the thoughts that dance in my mind.

ohhh you are so going to get this thrown at you again...but Picasso is my main man for quotes

There is no damage to the Lego fig and the magnets can be removed easily, but they also stay in place. This mod allows the shield to attach to the back, JOY! :D

There are 5 of the tiny neodymium magnets in the torso of cap. I chose 5 mainly for ease of stability in orientating the magnets.

Now I only need to get a shield to mod, and they are cheap as chips!
