Beautiful flowers in peckham rye park - (not sure of the name)

Spring colours in Atsugi, near Tokyo in April 2014.

On what is a dark and gloomy wet day today in North London with very low clouds swirling around the buildings (I live on a small ridge), I felt like a reminder of what spring can look like.

This image was taken in Edmonton Cemetery back in April with full blossom on one of the trees.

I don't know why there are two small stone pillars supporting a small cast-iron gate to nowhere on the right and then an empty 30x12m plot beyond. More typical of the site are the rows of graves partially visible on the far left in what I would describe as a fairly mature cemetery with little space left. The 12-hectare garden cemetery is sited on land that was previously an airfield.

I've been distant.

I've made an instagram.

Weeks of rain finally let up as the sun broke through, though not before the water levels had risen everywhere and the spring runoff in intense. I used a ten stop ND filter on Sony's newest lens - the Sony FE 14mm F1.8 G Master - to slow the movement of the water and to create a contrast between the static elements (bridge and large rocks) and the flow of the water. I really like the end result. Here's the linkage to my coverage of this amazing new lens from Sony:

Welcome to spring and all the newness this season brings. It's warmth, colour and a breath of fresh air. It's little buds and birds chirping. All life crawls out of hibernation and our hearts open. Wish you all a very happy spring.
