I was trying to capture the splash back from a raindrop landing in a shallow trough of water.

Down on the beach for a wander. The waves were splashing gently on the shore and it was a peaceful afternoon.

My first try of a splash. Hmm, that isn't a splash realy but a kind of this, it was done with a effervescent tablet in a glas of water. I think it's not the best, but its okay. =)

This is my 1000th upload so I wanted to choose a photo that would make a splash :-)

Last weekend we decided to explore a different area of the Canadian Rockies and drove down to the Canada/US border and check out Waterton.

I was warned that it was windy down there but nothing could have prepared me for the wind's wrath. There was no hiding from the consistently intense wind, but on the bright side, as a result of the wind, there were some nice waves crashing on the rocky shore of the lake which made for a perfect foreground. We will definitely be going back as there are lots more to explore in the area.

This image is a focus stack of 3 images plus an extra exposure for the crashing water.

Thanks for stopping by. Cheers!

Macro Mondays - In Between

Me había olvidado lo rico que es éste desayuno, aunque al mate con tortas fritas no lo cambio por nada, pero iba a ser díficil un splash con esa combinación :)

#TwitterTuesday #Circles

Well, I thought I don't need this lens anymore.

No, just kidding, it's a fake lens but I wish I had this lens for real :D

I saw something like this on Tumblr and I wanted to try it. :)

Another drip shot from my last attempt. This time with a pink food box over the top of the flash....

Macro Monday's and the theme of "Sphere".

For this week's theme I envisioned finding one of the clear marbles that I own and I had the intention of going out and shooting some traffic trails which would show up in the centre of the marble. Could I find it? No, having moved house twice recently it eluded me.

With not much time left I quickly set up a flash and found a set of sport themed erasers that I bought a few years ago which contained a football (soccer ball for our American friends).

I found a clear plastic lid and poured a small amount of water onto it and then had a bit of fun dropping the eraser onto it for a splash.

My 5 year old son Max was fascinated as to why I was getting everything wet with splashes.

Happy New Year 2011! Hope you had a very festive end of the year. I wish you all the best for this new year.

I will start this new year with a dramatic Mauritian seascape, many thanks to my Mauritian Flickr buddy Jean-Marc (stuckinparadise) who took me to this fantastic isolated place south of the island, far from the touristy sandy beaches.

Besote!

Fun time "catching" the light through the splash zone.

LIGHT CHALLENGE

On a recent trip to Spain I gave myself a challenge of taking pictures with interesting light

I will be posting some pictures with my results. I will tell you about the light source and why I captured that picture.

"Rebel incursion in secto...."

The radio transmission went silent. The AT-ST crew nervously looked at each other, but said nothing. The tension and fear was palpable in the cockpit.

The scout walker advanced up the beach, it was not an ideal situation. The tall transport was like a beacon on the beach, screaming out its presence, and there was no tactical advantage to be had anywhere. Only one thing to do - keep moving.

Two RPGs hit the walker. First one killed the gyro which made manoeuvring a lot more difficult, the pilot now had to adjust for everything, second hit struck the hydraulics valve and the controls went dead. A mere fraction of a second went by and then the walker fell forwards landing on waters edge, the water splash was rather impressive.

Water. Drip. Splash.

I've been away from my main computer for a week! Eek! There are some new things I want to learn; for example, when you see the comparison of this image, you'll see that I still can't get that damn angler lure in. And there's no library for "girl with angler lure on forehead". Wut?!

Well... I guess I'll have to learn how to train my own libraries. ;-)

Did a bit of wave watching while I was on Ballaugh shore. This one was toppling over as it moved to the right. I liked the way the ligh caught some of the drops and the crest of the wave.
