My failed attempt at a Gavin Hoey tutorial of wine splashing out of a wine glass into a wonderful heart pattern ... but made into something I find pretty none the less ..:-)

Ava, splashing in the puddle she had found. It was quite muddy, but at least it wasn't very big. It made plenty of mess as it was.

This is my daughter. She was playing in the creek at a park that I took her to while visiting my niece in TN. She is being splashed by Krisitina (my niece). They were having a blast. They are playing in a little man made waterfall/dam/overflow. Not really sure what you would call it. The water was spilling over a concrete wall about 1.5ft tall and just below the fall was a sidewalk that you could walk on. The next day I took my daughter back to this park and it had been raining that night so the water was flowing a bit harder and there were fish trying to swim up the falls. She got a big kick out of the fish swimming around her feet.

All real splashes, just cropped and sharpened a bit with a variety of backgrounds and underwater colours.

Uploading a set of 20 splash photos made a while back.

My first type of shot like this!

It's definitely harder than I thought, especially since I don't have much lighting equipment (by that I really mean that I don't have any, except my on-camera flash and some lamps), and I don't have the kind of budget to go out and buy a huge glass of any sort, so I had to make do with a small, cheap glass.

But it was fun. :)

I spilled an insane amount of water on the floor, because I kept forgetting I was supposed to be fishing the lime out with a fork, and stuck my hand into the glass, causing lots of spill-age. Whoops.

Check out some of the new ones I've taken lately. :)

splash, liquid

Taken with Canon 50D and ef 70-200mm f4L lens at f18, open on 'bulb' in darkened room, ISO 200. Two Yongnuo 460 flashes at 1/64th either side of drop site and one at 1/16th behind white plexi background fired by radio triggers. Liquid is diluted water based paint dropped from a syringe about 18" above surface. TriggerTrap at 12" above surface with laser detector fires radio triggers. Delay on triggering is 0.125 secs.

Not entirely happy with focus and depth of field - so need to try again.

Splash from the wake of the boat we were riding in. Tweaked a bit in p/s.

Strong Viking Water event, Nijmegen. 19km of running, swimming and obstacles through , under and over water. This was a slide down rhe side of a hill through sprinklers

A wet half-term afternoon, my son Tom and I had our first attempt at water drop photography. To achieve the colours, the off-camera flash was bounced off gold holographic paper on to the water. All very hit and miss but great fun. D300 Nikkor AF50mm 1.8 1/250 f8. Minimal editing.

Looks much better on black
