My children enjoyed numerous visits to splash pads this summer. Here's a shot of Leo and Violet during a trip to the Massey Hill Recreation Center splash pad on Camden Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina in Cumberland County.

Children playing splashing water in the river.

Tried to do a different perspective on the usual splash shot. This is what I came up with. If interested in how it all went horribly wrong, read on....

I wanted fast recharge times as I was using high-speed setting for the strawberry splash. Hence, the low power settings on the speedlights and ISO 800. Because the image is fundamentally quite dark (it's meant to be like that) and coupled with ISO 800, it's quite noisy.

I reduced noise in Neat Image using quite aggressive settings. The bottom bit is a bit blurred but I am actually OK with that, as it's the splash which is the interesting bit in the photo.

I really HAVE to get a proper light or sound trigger!!!

Behind subject: SB28@1/16 power bouncing light off wall

Right of subject: SB24 (with blue filter) @1/16 power bouncing light off the ceiling

There was a black card between the subject and the SB28

Trigger: Cactus v2s

LS&M: dark field

I finally tried doing some splash photography and had some cards flying through the air. This is the result. Hope you like it.

Sometimes the subtle splashes make for the most pleasant images. :)

"Splash Dance"... If you have ever watched the cormorant or shag do their rapid wing flaps then you get my drift.

my first proper attempt at splay photography with Telford Photography

I didn't particularly like the shadow in this shot, but liked the symmetry in the water splash. You could see another one with black background here: www.flickr.com/photos/venu_madhav_g/1435768528

Strobist Sundays - splash

Not much time to do a setup today, so I poured a little colored water into my kitchen sink manually using a coffee pot, and blasted across it with a 580EXII with grid at a low setting. I tried s slow shutter speed hoping to get a bit of motion blur and gel-like look to the water under the flash-stopped details.

Caught this guy using his hand-held waterproof camera. I bet he got some great shots!

Might have to move one of these onto the wish list :-)

The effects in the water are from aluminum foil crumpled up. Speedlite 430EX ll from the rear behind frosted glass and Speedlite 580EX ll from the right with red gel. The splash has blue dye and there is green dye in the water.

A mallard drake lands at the Tower Loop at Cherry Creek State Park, Colorado. I love the wing flare and splash as he lands.

It seems dropping fruit into water is a very popular thing in the photography world... So I gave it a go, here's my take, i quite like the tank in the shot, overall it was good fun to shoot.

The rapids on Torrey Creek. The foreground bokeh provides some interesting foreshadowing for Bokeh Wednesday. If you celebrate, of course.
