I spent all last week on a photo trip with fellow photographer Ted Gore. While at Olympic National Park, we visited several beaches and the Hoh rainforest. "Beaches and Hos... (or is it hoes?) as Alex Noriega would say :-) Anyway, We met up with Alex and went shooting sunset at Ruby Beach.
For those of you who care about such things, this is a composite of three different images: One exposure for the sky; One exposure for the streaking water in the foreground, and a third exposure for the splashing wave.

"Splash Dance"... If you have ever watched the cormorant or shag do their rapid wing flaps then you get my drift.
I didn't particularly like the shadow in this shot, but liked the symmetry in the water splash. You could see another one with black background here: www.flickr.com/photos/venu_madhav_g/1435768528
I've captured this view of the cliffs along the shore of Lake Superior near the mouth of the Montreal River in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan many times before, but some scenes you just can't resist.

Strobist Sundays - splash
Not much time to do a setup today, so I poured a little colored water into my kitchen sink manually using a coffee pot, and blasted across it with a 580EXII with grid at a low setting. I tried s slow shutter speed hoping to get a bit of motion blur and gel-like look to the water under the flash-stopped details.

The effects in the water are from aluminum foil crumpled up. Speedlite 430EX ll from the rear behind frosted glass and Speedlite 580EX ll from the right with red gel. The splash has blue dye and there is green dye in the water.
Attempt for this week's #TwPhCh: "Full sprut" (splash). It was hard to get it right, but this photo turned out OK. :-)
