33044 arrives with the excursion from Ramsgate. The train has come via the now closed line from March.
There were still plenty of tracks in Spalding at this time although where everyone is waiting on Winsover Road there used to be another two tracks.

Colas Rail 56078 seen at Spalding before departing to Aberdeen on 6S98. The train had just about completed running round and the driver was prepping the train to leave. Spalding 05/08/20
47566 departs from Spalding with the return excursion to Portsmouth. That must have been quite a long day for the passengers and it seems to be going via the March line.

The church of Saint Mary & Saint Nicholas in Spalding was built as a parish church by the priory in approx 1284, originally a cruciform building it has undergone many changes and additions over the centuries.
The market town of Spalding sits in the south Lincolnshire Fens on the river Wellend, it has many fine Georgian buildings, especially along the river bank, this area of south Lincolnshire is famous for its flower bulb industry.
The Fenlands of south-east Lincolnshire, west Norfolk and north Cambridgeshire are rich in medieval ecclesiastical architecture, because of this the area is sometimes referred to as the "Holy Land of the English".
37025 enters the station with this northbound sand train.
Note the 'rogue' wagon which was sandwiched in the middle of an otherwise uniform rake of hopper wagons.
Some lovely infrastructure which has now been swept away.

On July 12, 2011, I decided to shoot my entire last pack of Polaroid-brand film (it happened to be Spectra/Image film.) In my opinion, they are the best Polaroid shots I've taken. Over the next few days, I'll upload all of them to Flickr. Taken in State College, PA.

47 412 departs in the evening for Kings Cross whilst 47 453 runs though to pick up its coaching stock. There were so many trains in those days and my copious notes were not too reliable.

47 566 brings the stock for the return Portsmouth service out of the carriage sidings. 47 412 on a Kings Cross service can also be seen.
Sadly I undexposed my pics here with full strong sun and snow!
Anyway 55009 'Alycydon' is drawing to a stand at the station with the 1G10 08.20 KX - Lowestoft 'Deltic Broadsman' charter.
The tour was to wait here for over an hour waiting for staff.
