The Concept:
We’ve been living our lives at a rate of 24 hours per complete earth axis rotation at 365 days per complete circumference around the sun. We exist in our human form that is allowed at this speed of life. For one night, we will halt this speed to stop time; allowing our forms which hide between the threads of time to be released. In this timesphere, our alternate creatures celebrate their freedom from the clutches of passing time; relishing their freedom to finally come out of the shadows and explore. Come to “Timesphere” as your inner creature which exists deep in your timeless self.

The Intent:
We are putting all efforts into creating a reunion gathering to solidify the connections we all made with ourselves and others from Fractalfest, our 3 day gathering this summer. We invite you to part of an event which has both the wild and calming aspects. Together, let's find a balance in life and become as close to yin and yang, the Hunab Ku. Also to realize this balance is itself balanced with chaos. All we ask is you be respectful of yourself, of others, and of the space.

www.discogs.com/Michel-Banabila-Early-Works-Things-Poppin...
Michel Banabila, born 1961, is a sound artist, composer, and producer. Banabila releases music since 1983 and has produced musical scores for numerous films, documentaries, theatre plays and choreographies. This album collects 11 songs from his early years, released on tape, vinyl EPs or limited CD editions: beautiful minimal loop-based electronica, neo-classical pieces and ambient drone music. A true discovery ! (Bureau B)
liner notes:
Numerous threads run through the music of Michel Banabila, whose contemporary work ranges from adventurous electronic cross-breeding of chamber instrumentation, to industrial rhythmic sampling, to outward-bound modular synthesis, to deeply elegiac drones.
What is remarkable about this collection of early pieces is just how many of Banabila’s ongoing fascinations had already taken root, when he was barely half his current age. The child apparently is not merely the father to the man; he is also his music tutor. In particular, there are extended sequences of neoclassical loveliness and dense patches of Fourth World exploration that, matters of specific equipment aside, could have been recorded yesterday. Except that they weren’t.
The classical activity heard here constitutes a romantic attachment to the Old World, filtered through a contemporary sense of proportion. Banabila’s piano, its atmospheric gestures bringing to mind the proto-minimalism of Erik Satie, echoes with a disarming simplicity. The sweetness of the tune masks his determined compositional focus on loop-like repetitions, on the ever so slight variations between pulses, on training the listener’s ear to hear inside the notes, between the notes, to be receptive to matters that are more tactile than tonal. The melody could easily be an additional hundred years old — except for fact that the refined patterning is something that likely only could have been pursued in light of the music of Michael Nyman and Philip Glass. Similarly, a solo harmonium performance circles around a song that could be a maudlin street-corner serenade in a benighted district of a nameless Eastern European city — and yet it has a self-consciousness of the instrument’s breath-like quality that marks it, however subtly, as modern music.
And, of course, this isn’t modern music. This is music several decades after the fact. It is no longer of our time. The equipment on which it was made, notably an early sampler, was limited in various ways, key among them the relatively circumspect set of capabilities, especially in terms of memory storage, and the lack of received performance techniques. The equipment was simple and it was new, and neither factor limited Banabila’s ambition; to the contrary, the tools concentrated his imagination.
If the classical pieces represent the Old World as framed by the new, then the more recognizably “electronic” work here is likewise most at home in a fictional place, an idealized zone. That zone is a quiet neighborhood in the Fourth World, to borrow Jon Hassell’s terminology, one in which digital tools render something that is, for all its technological dependency, ultimately a form of folk music — an otherworldly folk music for another time. At that time and in that place, a percussive guitar figure lends momentum to ethereal synthesized choral vocals. Fidgety percussion plays amid a fierce but restrained guitar line (there are echoes of Laurie Anderson and Adrian Belew). An ambiguous and elongated drone, thick with subliminal activity, beautiful in its toxic anxiety, suggests dire activity on the horizon.
And yet the horizon wasn’t dire. Quite the contrary, what was ahead for Banabila was a long string of releases, a healthy and well-documented career in which so many of these individual threads have been provided time and space to have entire records dedicated to their pursuit. This album of archival works is a document, and what it documents is the continuity inherent in Banabila’s music. It is a map in musical form, and the path it traces is one that crisscrosses back and forth between the Old World and the Next.

Reviews / quotes:
DAMUSIC.BE
On repeat.
NOWAMUZYKA:
W przypadku longplaya „Early Works / Things popping up from the past” cofamy się w czasie jeszcze dalej gdzieś w okolice lat 80., ponieważ z tego okresu pochodzą kompozycje. W lekko etnicznym „A Sharp Silver Line” z kolei mamy solówkę gitarową Banabily bliższą stylowi Adriana Belewa z King Crimson. Mimo dużej rozpiętości stylistycznej, „Early Works/Things popping up from the past” słucha się jako całości. (Łukasz Komła)

Nyabinghia
Reggae, Ska and Funk
(Africa / South America / Europe)
Forget your sorrows and dance! With the Berlin reggae band Nyabinghia it will definitely be a great reggae party. Beside mainly roots reggae and ska Nyabinghia's songs also have rock, funk and hip hop influences. In the early days, the guys covered songs of their idol Bob Marley but meanwhile their own songs predominate and make people dance.
Lead singer "Iron Leo" does not only convey a message with rasta philosophy that brings people together but also plays guitar solos that remind of the days of Hendrix and bring back the Woodstock feeling. This music is full of drive and energy. Percussive reggae rhythms, unique basslines, groovy offbeat and keyboard arrangements also play a part in contributing to create the individual Nyabinghia sound.
The Musicians: "Iron Leo" (guit, ld voc) from Africa, Kay Wegner (keys, voc) from Germany and Tito Araújo (dr, perc) from Brazil are the basis of Nyabinghia and are often supported by renowned musicians from the German reggae scene as for instance on the bass, percussion, the backing vocals or the brass section.

Few months ago by chance and because a friend in common we (My wife Kichi, my son Tomeji and I) ended up eating in a stranger’s house Andi Teichmann.
He was extremely friendly, cooking a delicious pasta, introducing us to a group of really interesting people and his lovely son and wife.
At the end of the night he gave us a CD “It is our latest project, check it out” the name was “Karachi Files”
And all can I say is this album is full of beautiful experimental music, that I heard almost every day and I started to make a painting of every each song of the record.
Here is Drifting Dreams
32 x 22 cm collage on paper
Thanks for everything
Drifting Dreams

Connect with U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern
U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern
From failure to accomplishment: Kaiserslautern NCO’s resiliency leads to competition comeback
By Rick Scavetta, U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – Last year, Staff Sgt. Robert Donovan pushed himself too hard during the road march at the best warrior competition. He hadn’t drank enough water, his muscles cramped and his legs felt shaky.
Afterward, while plotting points on his map, Donovan felt delirious and dehydrated. Alone in the woods, he radioed for help – signaling the end to his ambition of being Installation Management Command Europe Region’s NCO of the Year.
“It shook me up quite a bit, but I made a decision to get some treatment,” Donovan said. “I was worried because my body had never failed me like that. It was quite a disappointment.”
Yet, instead of simply accepting defeat, Donovan saw his failure as an important lesson, a motivating factor that led him back to the 2012 IMCOM-Europe Best Warrior Competition, held recently at U.S. Army Garrison Grafenwoehr.
“I’ve always been competitive and I love putting myself to the test,” Donovan said. “Up until that point, I didn’t know what it felt like to fail.”
A military police investigations supervisor at a U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern, Donovan, 28, of Boston, Mass., excelled at sports in high school. In 2005, after two years studying criminal justice at New Hampshire’s Saint Anselm College, Donovan enlisted as military police officer. Assigned to 118th Military Police Company (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C., Donovan first tasted Army competition at the military police warfighter event. His team placed sixth of 40.
But, tougher tests lay ahead.
In 2006, he endured a 15-month deployment to Baghdad, Iraq. Returning to Fort Bragg, he underwent specialized MP training, earned sergeant’s stripes and got married. Before long, he returned to combat, deploying in 2009 to Afghanistan’s Logar Province – where he helped train Afghan police, conducted security patrols and served on a quick reaction force.
On Jan. 13, 2010, while on a convoy, Donovan overheard chatter on his company’s radio frequency – Soldiers from his platoon were hit by an improvised explosive device. Donovan admired Staff Sgt. Daniel Merriweather, a squad leader who led from the front, Donovan said. Merriweather, 25, of Collierville Tenn., and Pfc. Geoffrey Whitsitt, 21, of Taylors, S.C. were killed when an insurgent detonated the IED. Another Soldier, the gunner, was severely injured. Afterward, Donovan helped carry his fallen comrades to an awaiting aircraft – “one of those moments in the Army you’ll never forget,” he said.
Garrison assignment offers a change of pace
Donovan now serves in civilian clothes, conducting investigations. In Kaiserslautern, he passed a local board, earning NCO of the Quarter. At U.S. Army Garrison Baden-Württemberg, the next higher command, he earned NCO of the Year.
IMCOM-Europe’s best warrior competition includes a physical training test, weapons qualification, a 12-mile road march with a 35 pound rucksack, day and night land navigation courses, written tests and essays – plus a board appearance. In 2011, when Donovan ran the entire road march without slowing for water, it cost him dearly.
“Not drinking water led to cramping,” Donovan said, looking back at his misjudgment. “By that point, I don’t think any amount of water would have helped.”
Back in Kaiserslautern, Donovan endured good natured ribbing from fellow Soldiers, who stacked water bottles on his desk and hung pictures of intravenous solution on office walls. He kept the water bottles, looking at them every day for nearly a year, promising himself to return to the competition and win.
That meant again winning successive boards in Kaiserslautern and Heidelberg. Meanwhile, he shed 20 pounds and practiced road marching. In April, he returned to Grafenwoehr, facing the same competition cadre who were like, “you’re back, drink water,” Donovan said.
“I had to live up to those promises,” Donovan said. “In my heart, I knew I had what it took to win this.”
Making a comeback
As dawn’s first light crept across the Bavarian countryside, Donovan shouldered his 35-pound rucksack and took up a running pace along the same route that broke him nearly a year earlier. This time he planned ahead, drinking a canteen of water every three miles.
Deep thoughts motivated Donovan along the route. Since losing the previous year, he’d gone through a divorce and his grandfather died. He still was grieving the loss of friends in combat. Under the weight of full combat gear, he paced himself against another Soldier running ahead. By the halfway point, Donovan gained, determined to finish first. When the Soldier slowed to a walk, Donovan blew past.
“Dude, you’re a beast,” the Soldier called out.
“I just think I got a second wind,” Donovan humbly replied.
Crossing the finish at 2 hours, 20 minutes, Donovan was exhausted. He broke down, just a little.
“For the first time in my life, I got emotional based on my accomplishment, shedding a few tears,” Donovan said.
Command Sgt. Maj. Barry Maieritsch, IMCOM Europe Region’s senior enlisted leader, greeted Donovan at the finish. A year earlier, when Donovan fell out of the competition, he promised Maieritsch to return.
“That’s what life is all about, taking the knock, learning the lesson and driving on,” Maieritsch said.
Donovan ambitiously swept through the land navigation course, where he faced defeat a year earlier. During common Soldier tasks, such as first aid and radio communication, he remained focused.
By the following morning, he stood in his dress uniform before sergeants major at the formal board.
“The feeling of accomplishment had already hit,” Donovan said. “I wanted to finish this year’s competition, win or lose, just finish it.”
Overcoming obstacles
During an April 17 ceremony in Heidelberg, Donovan stood stoically among fellow competitors as his name was announced as 2012’s NCO of the Year. He heads now to San Antonio, to take part in the IMCOM-level competition. Afterward, he hopes to compete at Army level.
Before the ceremony, Kathleen Marin, IMCOM Europe Region director, spoke candidly with the Soldiers about what they achieved.
“It tested you physically, mentally and academically. It tested your poise and maturity,” Marin said. “This is what we need from our Soldiers, a well-rounded look. You’re the whole package and we’re so proud of you. You’re all winners.”
Over the past few months, fellow Soldiers watched as Donovan prepared himself, doing extra physical training, practice road marches, studying Army manuals and getting his uniform prepared. Donovan sets a very high standard for himself physically, mentally and professionally, said Sgt. Raymond Engstrom, an MP who works with him at U.S. Army Garrison Kaiserslautern.
“This was his competition and he was going to win no matter what,” Engstrom said. “It’s a proud moment for such a small unit. It’s raised the bar.”
As for Donovan, he’s committed to competing. But he also learned a valuable lesson that he hopes other Soldiers will understand from hearing his story.
“Resiliency is most important thing an NCO can have,” Donovan said. “You don’t learn unless you fail at times.”

All we ask is you be respectful of yourself, of others, and of the space.

ed Furey’s ‘Fly’ing Bodhrán
Well Ted Furey had a greyhound and it wasn't a bit shy
At winning cups at races, that's why he called it Fly.
At Harold's Cross or Shelbourne, or down in sweet Clonmel —
It was meant for greater glory, every punter there could tell.
He took her to the coursing and she loved to turn the hare,
To anything she put a paw, she did it with such flair.
But Fly, she met her maker and it broke Ted Furey's heart
He loved the skin of that great dog, and from it wouldn't part!
So upon a mound near Lissadell he took the skin off Fly,
And raised a cairn upon her bones and gave a little sigh.
Then back to Ballyfermot on the train from Sligo town,
Alone in that long carriage and no guard going up nor down.
Now Nora loved the dog, but didn't want it in the house,
Drawing rats or other vermin and every bloody mouse;
So to the shed poor Fly and Ted were sent with that strong smell;
But a master plan was forming — be the whistling, you could tell.
For three long days and three long nights he worked upon Fly's skin
You could hear the hammer tapping, like a fairy cobbler's din,
When he stepped into the sunlight, he'd a bodhrán in his hand
He rapped it with the knuckles, "Ah! Be Jaysus, now, that's Grand!
“You were solid at the coursing, and the toast of every track,
I'll have to find the quickest hand to beat upon your back!
Here Paul, I’ll lave it to ye, hold her tight and play her well,
Hould her back until you hit the straights, then let her go like hell!”
In Boyle, in County Sligo, they were playing at the fleadh
Paul was on the bodhrán, on the fiddle was the Da.
To play the sets for dancers, they were sitting on a wall
There was Dinny Delaney, Coleman, and that harper, Rory Dall.
There was a nephew of Ó Carolan, a piper of the best
And John Cash brought the Rowsomes, Maggie Barry was impressed;
No better band was ever heard, their first time at the Fleadh
and Tommy Moore he gave a song but didn't have the Nnagh!
Then in the field fornenst the wall, a hare put up her head,
The bodhrán leapt across the wall and left them all for dead,
Poor Paul went off in hot pursuit, but didn’t have the puff
He cried out to the speeding pair, “Ah! Jaysus, lads, enough!”
Well the hare she took a breather, against an ole Ash tree
And the bodhrán stood beside her, and dropped her arse to pee;
“Jaysus lads, yis have me beat, I haven’t run is years!”
And then that sound, it crossed the ground, the Bodhrán cocked its ears:
When it heard Ted Furey's fiddle, sure it stopped right in its tracks,
And it wasn't but a minute till it made its own way back.
Then Paul came panting after and sat down on the wall,
In a second they were playing as if they never left at all.
They then played Rakish Paddy and The Bucks of Oranmore,
With the poor ole bodhrán panting and Paul's ole knuckles sore;
Then the dancers on the platform turned to Fly and gave the nod —
To hear a bodhrán barking well they thought it very odd.
Then Fly took up the rhythm and she led Paul all the way,
Be Jaysus, that ole bodhrán, it sure as hell could play!
She had the dancers sweatin'! Ah! She danced them off their feet,
And she never missed a minim and she never missed a beat.
The rain came on quite heavy and the crowds they went away;
And each musician took the road, some other town to play
Ah! When was that? So long ago, I remember, with regret,
Ted Furey’s bodhrán pulsing there, I think I hear it yet!
Now in a shed in Ballyer, that poor old bodhrán stayed.
It wasn't played for many years, the skin was slack and frayed,
Till someone took it from the wall and gave it a quick slap,
And be Jaysus, in a second, ole Fly leapt in his lap.
O-- it played with such finesse — a thing of quality;
But after all, as you well know, it had a pedigree!
Upon the rim, though scratched and dim, the little legend read:
Me Mammy, she was Nora, and me Daddy, he was Ted!
Me Mammy, she was Nora, and me Daddy, he was Ted!
