I bought this wrapping paper a few years ago intending to use it for a diorama. Finally got around to using it.

A great man and musician passed away. His sound and vision will keep on being eternal.

One of the great pop icons, I listened to since I was about 11 years old and I have so many memories that are connected to his music. And what a great event it was to see him live performing in Rotterdam in 1983 (serious moonlight tour). His always changing appearance as a way of re-inventing himself constantly was a big inspration, as well as his creativity and his out of the box thinking.

Here you can just see the small speaker hiding behind the holes in my PS4 controller.

It plays sound as well as providing sound for playing! HMM!

A delicate feather that lay to rest,

With the hearts of lions beating in her chest,

Sounds of silence, deafening, yet clear,

Her soul at play, waiting for someone, to come near.

The sound has you covered; a lovely speaker arrangement at R&B Brewing in Vancouver.

One of the most beautiful places in the world is Alaska. The glaciers break off leaving blue ice floating in the sound.

The trumpet sounds for the closing of the gates of heaven at the conclusion of the Day of Atonement. I hope we have all been sealed in the Book Of Life for a great year!

I am exhausted, but so very exhilarated and keyed up that I doubt I will get much sleep tonight...

This one's from a visit to the Crypt in Winchester Cathedral. The sculpture (Sound ll) is by Antony Gormley, the crypt floods regularly hence the reflections. I've wanted to see this for a long time, what a fantastic place!

Thanks for your time

Sound - Macro Mondays

Several years ago, I lost hearing in my right ear. The hearing loss was gradual, but finally became so profound that a conventional hearing aid was useless.

My doctor and audiologist suggested that a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid system (BAHA) would be helpful in my case. This system consists of a titanium post which is implanted into the skull just above and behind the deaf ear, and a sound processor device which snaps on to the post.

The BAHA processor transmits sound via bone condition through my skull to my good ear, allowing me to hear sounds from my deaf side. The brain quickly adapts to this new way of hearing and the transmitted sound seems natural and clear!

This is a photo of my Oticon Ponto 3SP sound processor. It’s about 1.25” (32mm) long.

My buddy Joseph said that the thunderous noise the pair of Austrian Typhoons made was music to his ears! Great display from the Austrian Air Force.

Sound II, a statue by Antony Gormley situated in the underground crypt of Winchester Cathedral. The statue always looks at it's best when reflected in the floodwater that seeps into the crypt during the wetter winter months.

The Vaulted crypt dates from 11th Century.

Sound of the Ocean

Presented by U Theatre of Taiwan

The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts

Vancouver, BC, Canada

U Theatre, Taiwan’s Taoist masters tell the story of “the water of life, which nourishes our souls,” This original work by U Theatre combines extraordinary drumming, martial arts, meditation, modern theatrical training and ancient Chinese opera. Gongs, drums and temple bells trace the journey of a drop of water as it falls from the sky and joins other drops in a fast running stream that flows into the vast ocean.

Milford Sound, New Zealand

Ricoh IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. GR

A beautiful snow covered landscape, resembling the arctic, while this in fact is Belgium. Cold nights and a good amount of snowfall created what is best described as a winter wonderland.

Milford Sound, New Zealand, is a wonderfully peaceful place. During the early winter you can stand at the foot of the sound and listen to the falls as they fall directly into the ocean all by yourself.

This was shot on my 1984 trip. I have always looked forward to going back but have not made it yet. This photo was shot on slide film, Kodachrome 64. Would love to get back here with my digital equipment.

A nice movie. Very good characters and an interesting look into the deaf community, but the story ends in a bit of a weird place. I wanted more!

Doubtful Sound / Patea is a very large and naturally imposing fiord (despite its name) in Fiordland, in the far south west of New Zealand. It is located in the same region as the smaller but more famous and accessible Milford Sound. It took second place after Milford Sound as New Zealand's most famous tourism destination.

Taken at Rodel, the most southerly point on Harris and looking south across the sound. In the far distance is the island of North Uist.

Alphaville:

Sounds like a melody

Its a trick of my mind

To faces bathing in the screenlight

Shes so soft and warm in my arms

I tune it into the scene

My hand are resting on her shoulders

When were dancing away for a while

Oh, were moving, were falling, we step into the fire

By the hour of the wolf in a midnight dream

Theres no reason to hurry, just start that brand new story

Set it alight, were head over heels in love

Head over heels

The ringing of your laughter it sounds like a melody

To once forbidden places well go for a while

Its the definite show

Our shadows resting in the moonlight

Its so clear and bright in your eyes

Its the touch of your sighs

My lips are resting on your shoulder

When were moving so soft and slow

We need the extasy, the jelousy, the comedy of love

Like the cary grants and kellys once before

Give me more tragedy, more harmony and phantasy, my ***d e a r***

And set it alight, just starting that satellite

Set it alight

I don't often use b&w and I deliberated for some time whether to post this one or the original (with brilliant autumn colours)

But I felt it needed this treatment to highlight the figure in the central Oak tree.

I seem to be seeing things in trees again (maybe a side effect of this pandemic)

Her arms are raised, her head is tilted to (our) left, her eyes are closed (in ecstasy? in pain? who can tell?)

Her body is bound by shadow and she writhes to free herself in a dance.

A friend in the US sent me this song last night and in combination with this image, they speak of our need to shake off the shackles that we find ourselves bound in (old, dogmatic thinking) and open ourselves to inner Light .......
