This one's from a visit to the Crypt in Winchester Cathedral. The sculpture (Sound ll) is by Antony Gormley, the crypt floods regularly hence the reflections. I've wanted to see this for a long time, what a fantastic place!
Thanks for your time

Sound - Macro Mondays
Several years ago, I lost hearing in my right ear. The hearing loss was gradual, but finally became so profound that a conventional hearing aid was useless.
My doctor and audiologist suggested that a Bone Anchored Hearing Aid system (BAHA) would be helpful in my case. This system consists of a titanium post which is implanted into the skull just above and behind the deaf ear, and a sound processor device which snaps on to the post.
The BAHA processor transmits sound via bone condition through my skull to my good ear, allowing me to hear sounds from my deaf side. The brain quickly adapts to this new way of hearing and the transmitted sound seems natural and clear!
This is a photo of my Oticon Ponto 3SP sound processor. It’s about 1.25” (32mm) long.

My buddy Joseph said that the thunderous noise the pair of Austrian Typhoons made was music to his ears! Great display from the Austrian Air Force.
Sound II, a statue by Antony Gormley situated in the underground crypt of Winchester Cathedral. The statue always looks at it's best when reflected in the floodwater that seeps into the crypt during the wetter winter months.
The Vaulted crypt dates from 11th Century.

U Theatre, Taiwan’s Taoist masters tell the story of “the water of life, which nourishes our souls,” This original work by U Theatre combines extraordinary drumming, martial arts, meditation, modern theatrical training and ancient Chinese opera. Gongs, drums and temple bells trace the journey of a drop of water as it falls from the sky and joins other drops in a fast running stream that flows into the vast ocean.

Spring trees against an abandoned concrete container show rubbings on the wall from many windy days. Amazing how much wear a tree branch can cause on a hard surface if just given the time.
Milford Sound, New Zealand, is a wonderfully peaceful place. During the early winter you can stand at the foot of the sound and listen to the falls as they fall directly into the ocean all by yourself.
This was shot on my 1984 trip. I have always looked forward to going back but have not made it yet. This photo was shot on slide film, Kodachrome 64. Would love to get back here with my digital equipment.
The sound of Napier engines was heard on the Tyne Valley line with D9009 working the Deltic Deviator railtour.
Having already covered the Durham Coast, and Blyth and Tyne routes, Deltic number 9 aided by 68004 crosses the path of Hadrian's Wall at Gilsland on the Northumbrian/Cumbrian border.

Oscars 2021 Best Picture Nominee #4: Sound of Metal
A nice movie. Very good characters and an interesting look into the deaf community, but the story ends in a bit of a weird place. I wanted more!
Pictured:
Doubtful Sound / Patea is a very large and naturally imposing fiord (despite its name) in Fiordland, in the far south west of New Zealand. It is located in the same region as the smaller but more famous and accessible Milford Sound. It took second place after Milford Sound as New Zealand's most famous tourism destination.
Taken at Rodel, the most southerly point on Harris and looking south across the sound. In the far distance is the island of North Uist.
Milford Sound Stormlight
The one thing I can guarantee about the weather in Milford Sound in New Zealand is that it is always changing. Quickly. I left the car in sunshine but by the time I reached my shooting location I could see a storm fast approaching from the ocean. That storm provided better light, clouds that hovered above the water and enveloped the mountains, and creating a mood that I would not have gotten if the empty, blue skies I drove in with had remained. The advancing storm provided the opportunity to feed my image-making creativity.
Alphaville:
Sounds like a melody
Its a trick of my mind
To faces bathing in the screenlight
Shes so soft and warm in my arms
I tune it into the scene
My hand are resting on her shoulders
When were dancing away for a while
Oh, were moving, were falling, we step into the fire
By the hour of the wolf in a midnight dream
Theres no reason to hurry, just start that brand new story
Set it alight, were head over heels in love
Head over heels
The ringing of your laughter it sounds like a melody
To once forbidden places well go for a while
Its the definite show
Our shadows resting in the moonlight
Its so clear and bright in your eyes
Its the touch of your sighs
My lips are resting on your shoulder
When were moving so soft and slow
We need the extasy, the jelousy, the comedy of love
Like the cary grants and kellys once before
Give me more tragedy, more harmony and phantasy, my ***d e a r***
And set it alight, just starting that satellite
Set it alight
I don't often use b&w and I deliberated for some time whether to post this one or the original (with brilliant autumn colours)
But I felt it needed this treatment to highlight the figure in the central Oak tree.
I seem to be seeing things in trees again (maybe a side effect of this pandemic)
Her arms are raised, her head is tilted to (our) left, her eyes are closed (in ecstasy? in pain? who can tell?)
Her body is bound by shadow and she writhes to free herself in a dance.
A friend in the US sent me this song last night and in combination with this image, they speak of our need to shake off the shackles that we find ourselves bound in (old, dogmatic thinking) and open ourselves to inner Light .......

This shot of the Milkyway isn't mine but I wanted something that went with the first line of the song, "Hello Darkness, My old Friend"... The Idea behind this was an email from a friend that told about Art Garfunkle's College friend who went blind and his devotion to his friend.. Playing time 1 min 39 seconds..
Driving from Queenstown to Milford Sound alone just to capture magical light of sunset, gave me huge satisfaction of what I saw. Milford Sound was known around the world of it mysterious and magical geographical landscape. Photo was taken with Nikon D800 and Nikkor 16-35mm f/4. Elvis on Des Voeux Road Central as 7 ton buses pass on either side, with the long exposure creating the electric blasts of light.
The only drawback? 7 tons either side on a long exposure means it's impossible to get the microphone ultra pin-sharp, but the over-all effect of motion against a steady subject draws the eye in.
Gotta figure out a way to stabilize this better so I can get the Shure logo super sharp next time!
Soy cruel
suicida
que busca revolcarse
en la tristeza de añorar
lo que los vientos dijeron;
cuando eras tu la que hacía
que el mismo sol saliese a verte.
Amortizo los momentos
en los que desde lejos
observo y pienso
en lo que debí decir de
aquellos perfectos besos, porque
ahora los huelo
pero seguro contemplo
como se los das al aire.
Well this one was a dud.
By the title and liner notes I was expecting a book about birding, what I got was the memoir of an overprotective mother, her awkward teenaged son, and her struggle to let go. It was obvious the family led a privileged lifestyle, so I found her constant whining over trivial issues a bit hard to stomach as well.
Not a book I would recommend. After all the woman even made a cruise around the Galapagos Islands in a private yacht sound boring.
