Tijdens de koude oorlog stegen dagelijks met veel gebrul Amerikaanse straaljagers op van Vliegbasis Soesterberg. The Sound of Freedom noemden omwoners het overweldigende geluid. Op de Internationale Dag van de Vrede 21 september, sluit de Vrede van Utrecht het grootse vieringsjaar af met Sound of Freedom. Niet met straaljagers, maar met een massale vredesmaaltijd, een spectaculaire reddingsoperatie van de Nederlandse Krijgsmacht én een groot vredesconcert onder leiding van het Metropole Orkest op de kruising van de landingsbanen.

The New Western Ferries Sound of Soay being launched at Cammell Lairds today 22/7/12 at 10:30 and moved around to the wet basin to be finished off.
The Sound of Soay is one of two (Sound of Seil) being built at Lairds.
Work began with the laying of the Sound of Seil's keel on the 18th October 2012.
These ferries will be used on the company’s service between Dunoon and Gourock.
Beaches (mostly private) along Nantucket Sound in Dennisport. Harwich is in the middle distance and Chatham is on the horizon at the right.

Desolation Sound Marine Park is a boater’s paradise! With over 6,350 acres of shoreline and water, it is the largest Marine Park in B.C. in addition to being the only major park of any kind on the Pacific mainland coast of Canada. It is 160 kl northwest of Vancouver, BC.
The Park can be split up into three major destination anchorages: Prideaux Haven, Tenedo’s Bay, and Grace Harbour. The topography of the park varies from relatively low rolling hills of Gifford Peninsula to the Unwin Range rising over 4,500 feet directly behind Prideaux Haven. There are many safe anchorage locations, most of which are either totally or partly enclosed by low shoreline or high cliffs, islands, or mountainsides. Warm waters make Desolation Sound Marine Park an ideal place for swimming and scuba diving, saltwater and freshwater fishing, and walk-in wilderness camping.Desolation Sound, Ocean

The Sounds are quite notorious for their song "Hurt You" as seen on the Geico Motorcycle commercial starring the Cavemen [view it here]. From Skåne län, Sweden, this energetic female-led quartet has new-wave roots with indie pop overtones. As vocalist Maya Ivarsson proclaimed during their stay @ The Marquee in Tulsa, OK on 5/14/09, they play a lot of big shows but enjoy their own shows much more. So catch their headlining act before it's gone, as they are soon to open for No Doubt in a string of U.S. performances.
