This Sound Warehouse record crate was seen at one of the major antique stores in Memphis. A quick Google search will show present day Sound Warehouse is a long-running (since 1979) car stereo and accessories outfit in Utah, but decades ago they were sharing that name with a famous record store chain. Sound Warehouse appeared to still be going strong a decade later, but I couldn't find any info on when they went out of business. Seems there was at least one other record store using the name that (per the lack of facebook updates) might have went belly-up itself in the latter part of 2014.

Sounds Of Then
Ganggajang
I think I hear the sounds of then,
And people talking,
The scenes recalled, by minute movement,
And songs they fall, from the backing tape.
That certain texture,that certain smell,
To lie in sweat, on familiar sheets,
In brick veneer on financed beds.
In a room, of silent hardiflex
That certain texture, that certain smell,
Brings home the heavy days,
Brings home the the night time swell,
Out on the patio we’d sit,
And the humidity we’d breathe,
We’d watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think, this is Australia.
The block is awkward - it faces west,
With long diagonals, sloping too.
And in the distance, through the heat haze,
In convoys of silence the cattle graze.
That certain texture, that certain beat,
Brings forth the night time heat.
Out on the patio we’d sit,
And the humidity we’d breathe,
We’d watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think that this is Australia.
To lie in sweat, on familiar sheets,
In brick veneer on financed beds.
In a room of silent hardiflex
That certain texture, that certain smell,
Brings forth the heavy days,
Brings forth the night time sweat
Out on the patio we’d sit,
And the humidity we’d breathe,
We’d watch the lightning crack over canefields
Laugh and think, this is Australia.
My first time photographing Milford Sounds and the skies were clear both days, not what I had in mind but it at least gave me the chance to shoot without getting wet, cold however was always going to be on the cards. On this evening there was quite a bit of colour in the sky from the setting sun but it just wasn't doing it for me. I do like this treatment though, the blue hue giving some feeling of just how bitterly cold it was!
Just after a July sunrise, light breaks through a gap in the heavy cloud over Eriskay and South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, lighting up the Sound of Barra. Viewed from Beinn Squrabhal in the far north of the Isle of Barra. The Island is Fuday / Fuidheigh.

Very early start to capture this #Swan gliding slowly upstream against the flow of the languid golden misty #River #Dee. Just a beautiful silent start to the day only interrupted by the squabbles of rooks
Everyone in Holland old enough to remember TV, will recognise the colours of the Museum voor Beeld en Geluid in Hilversum. We were there yesterday and enjoyed all the exhibits and all the information from our childhood. I even watched the starting episode of a series I watched when I was a kid, Johan en de Alverman. It was delightfully slow and outdated.
