Dusk at Milford Sound, March 27th 2015.
This was the end of the West Coast adventure on our New Zealand trip. We stayed in a great cabin in the woods and went on a boat trip and I took loads of photos on a camera where the film wasn't loaded properly, so you can't see them (and neither can I).
My colleague found this little cute bird when he went for his usual afternoon puff. Another colleague said that it is a sunbird. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Sadly, the bird died of heart attack (diagnosed by my boss) the next day she was taken in.
Ironically, a few weeks before we found this bird, I spotted a kitten in the rain somewhere near my office. One of my colleagues loves animals, so he decided to keep the kitten.
It seems that the animals know exactly where to find refuge! They came to an environmental consultancy firm!

'Milford Sound (Piopiotahi in Māori) is a fjord in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park, Piopiotahi (Milford Sound) Marine Reserve, and the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It has been judged the world's top travel destination in an international survey (the 2008 Travelers' Choice Destinations Awards by TripAdvisor) and is acclaimed as New Zealand's most famous tourist destination. Rudyard Kipling had previously called it the eighth Wonder of the World.
Milford Sound was initially overlooked by European explorers, because its narrow entry did not appear to lead into such large interior bays. James Cook bypassed Milford Sound on his journeys for just this reason. The fjord remained undiscovered by Europeans until Captain John Grono discovered it c.1812 and named it Milford Haven after his homeland in Wales.' (Wikipedia)
Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence.
"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets
are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls."
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.

Nothin' like the sound of water to make you relax. Ocean, creek, waterfalls they're all a great natural sound. Here is a view at Coquina Beach on the west side of Florida.
Today I was remembering certain sounds as a child that would scare me. Especially when the house was settling and making cracking sounds. Also the whispering winds in the forest would spook me when I was little. What are some sounds that creeped you out as a child?
Sound opened like a wound;
I looked — and found my face.
May I meet the one I resist with open hands.
Sound fell away; only light remained.

Whidbey Island's west coast offers a grand view of The Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula. Fort Ebey State Park on Whidbey's west coast features easy access to a varied beach that includes large stretches of driftwood and sand, small boulder and cobble shorelines, cliffs, and an expansive view of the sound and the peninsula beyond.
This is Point Partridge where the beach is armored with cobbles and boulders. Point Partridge is where The Puget Sound merges with The Strait of Juan de Fuca. It is also a convergence zone of longshore drifts along Whidbey's west coast which explains the concentration of cobbles and boulders.
I highly recommend visiting Whidbey during the off season. I had the beach and this sunset all to myself.

It was cool and wet over the Thanksgiving long weekend but we ventured out to the Terwilliger Dog Park to check out these really cool art instillations. This collection is called the art of sound and not only are they interesting to photograph but you get some really interesting sound effects when you stand near them.

I had the unique opportunity to photograph the Missouri Symphony's "Sound Bites" event at Cooper's Ridge this past weekend. The event paired food offerings from Peachtree Catering with music from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Conductor Wilbur Lin led the orchestra. Violinist Rachell Ellen Wong flew in from Manhattan to play the solos. Please support the Missouri Symphony's mission to bring classical music to our community. You can donate directly via their website at themosy.org/. Plan on attending MOSY's new summer event, the Firefly Music Festival, which runs from June 14 to July 24. I'd also like to thank Brockmeier Financial for their generous sponsorship of the photography.
Milford Sound, To get an idea of the size of this place the tallest peak on the left of the centre of the picture is 1692 metres.
The 654 is easily my favorite unit on the Hartwell but it sounds even better than it looks! The unit is working hard to lug the mile+ of storage cars over the undulating profile of the Hartwell. Handheld I know but this clip has the best sound of the ones I took.
First time i develop with stand still technique.
This is in fact semi stand still at 40 minutes(20+agitation+20) with Rodinal.
It is usually 60 min development but 60 min with Fomapan 100 would be over exposed.
Camera: Canon Prima Zoom76 that i got for free, I don't like point and shoot cameras but i must say that the results are over my expectations (exposition was spot on!). May be it is because of the development which gives a lot of details in the highlights and shadows.
