The difference between false memories and true ones is the same as for jewels: it is always the false ones that look the most real, the most brilliant.
~ Salvador Dalí
Cats are territorial animals. They need to feel safe in their space and they need it to be clear to other cats that they are, in fact, the owner of that space. The best-known feline territory marking behavior is urine spraying: Males and females, can spray when they feel the need to plant “no trespassing” signs.
Scent is used to identify members of the same colony, define territory, create familiarity, announce sexual readiness, learn more about unfamiliar cats in the environment, self-soothe, bond with another, or as a form of covert aggression.
The scent glands around the face are identified as friendly or low-intensity. These are used when a cat is marking familiar objects he considers part of his turf, or when he’s depositing scent as a bonding gesture such as when head bunting. You’re also probably very familiar with the sight of your cat cheek-rubbing on objects in the home. This is a comforting behavior for him and reflects his sense of security and familiarity with the environment.
The scent glands in his paw pads get used when he scratches on objects for marking. In addition to leaving a visual mark from his claws, he leaves an olfactory mark through the scent glands. Now that’s an animal who really makes sure his presence is known!
The pheromones associated with the back end of the cat, such as the ones released during urine-marking are high-intensity. There’s nothing calm about those pheromones. When a cat sprays it’s done under stressful or exciting circumstances.
And with all that incredible scent depositing going on in a cat’s environment, it’s a good thing he also has such a highly developed sniffer to decode all the information left by other cats’ pheromones.
This young male Cheetah was seen sniffing the scent left by another cheetah and decoding the message. Photographed on an early morning game drive in Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.
Sit in the middle of a roundabout, this single, soothing, and relaxing cloud kept me engaged. I tried to capture the essence of that feeling in this picture, bolstering it's own impression by pumping up, as much as i felt to, it's color and contrasts.
Beauty is in the little things.
The only day that is with sunshine and blue sky during my Kansai visit. The morning is terribly nice and chilling, makes it ideal to stroll around and shoot stuffs.
Taken at Kiyomizu-dera, Kyoto, Japan, with kitlens and no filter. A near SooC result except for lens correction and contrast.

I love the soothing sounds of these chimes, so I figured I'd shoot it - in portrait mode. :)

These are purple Picotee ranunculus. Picotee is a variety of flower whose edge is a different color than the flower's base color. The word originates from the French picoté, meaning 'marked with points'.
Having been born in a beach town on the Southern California Coast, I've long loved the ocean, its' sounds, its' life.. especially the ever-steady 'roar' of the sea. I feel blessed to have always lived near or close to the Pacific Ocean my entire life, and thought I would share some calming sounds with you all.
When I was a few hours from the coast, living around Portland, Oregon, I would miss hearing the ocean, and when on SL, I frequented beach sims, falling asleep hearing the sound effects there of waves crashing.
Listen!
Hear the fluid sand
Moving
Beneath the curling waves
Each grain
Coaxed shoreward by the tide
Whispers
against its' brothers' skin.
Come!
The water tickles
Shells
Twirls, lifts, and rattles them
Sharply
Creating counterpoint
Like cymbals -
Musical sharp edges.
Taste!
The wind is salty
Spice
To tantalize the tongue
Tempting
Lips open, tasting mist.
Eyelids bow
The sea is taking charge.
Dance!
Where sand meets ocean
Boundary
Of two worlds becoming one
Liquid sand
Terra-not-so-firma,
Become one,
With sand and wind and waves.
Music Of The Wind And Waves

After work on Friday, I barely had enough time to jump in the truck and find a spot when these beautiful clouds were forming this evening. This is in West Sacramento, near Southport, along the Delta, the sky couldn't be beat!
I've been feeling fucked up ever since I got back from Zagreb.
No one and nothing has been able to lift my spirits up for about three weeks now. And although I know that I can rely on my friends and family, I feel that, at this moment, the only person that can soothe me is - myself.

I try to act normal, to work, socialize and do my chores, but everything requires so much of my energy.

Today I was supposed to go out. But I didn't feel like it. I got an idea for a photo and it occupied my mind. I forced myself to get dressed, comb my hair and set up the gear. This photo isn't technically that good, but shooting and editing kept me busy for a couple of hours - and eventually, I realized that the entire process has made me feel a bit better.

It is funny, no matter where I go, be in the city or for a stroll in nature, I find myself always looking up and trees. When I was a boy, my younger brother and I climbed trees in our neighborhood. It was fun trying to climb higher than him---when I could.
Trees sway in the breeze with seemingly little effort and if one has the time, they really do make such a lovely harmonic sounds. It is soothing for me to languish for extra moments within any forest setting. Sunshine, cloudy, rainy, windy conditions are all good. A tree has many moods based on the conditions it is surrounded by and I always feel at peace near these living wonders :)

A pretty late entry to the project but here's my image for week 16.
I pretty much got over every fear and apprehension I had about travelling on this trip. A year ago I would never have hopped on a plane for 20 hours to travel across the world. It's way too far, I'd always tell myself. I decided to leave those emotions at the plane door and swallowed each day of doubt with a positive affirmation. It was such a soothing experience. Something I can't put into words. Just imagine yourself on a humid, heavy, unbreathable day and dropping into a tempting, cool (ish) swimming pool. The relief.
That's how it felt.
Toxic
I choose peace over toxicity. Saying goodbye to those who drain and manipulate me is an act of self-respect. Your struggles are yours, not my responsibility, not a burden for me to bear. I welcome new experiences, surround myself with souls that uplift me, and value the silence that nurtures inner harmony. Life’s sweetest melody plays in quiet moments of peace, and I commit to living in its soothing rhythm. Goodbye chaos, hello serenity.

I love the beach when the sun goes down. It's tricky to photograph but the colour is so beautiful and soothing. I'm sure there are many photography faults with this but I love the glow and tranquility.
A Brown Shrike (Lanius cristatus) was in a magnificent pose under a beautiful sunshine and a well matched background giving me the opportunity to present it in a charming note. Pics was taken from Santragachi, W.B., India.
View On Black • I always found rain calming, relaxing and soothing. As if it could wash away the bad stuff. The curious wind right before it pours down and the smell right after....
