Solar engineer making a solar cooker. The cooker is designed by the barefoot engineers of Barefoot College, Tilonia, Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. A mechanism built from used bi-cycle parts turns the mirrors, making sure they face the sun at the best angle all day.
We saw solar panels a few times in Iran. The most dramatic was a new park in Tehran, where the panels were clearly included just to show off the alternative energy source, rather than because of a lack of access to a power grid. This photo, however, is alongside the road to Chalus.
Here's what a ginormous solar installation looks like. They're not that unusual in my neck of the woods. Each cell is probably average of 200 watts. This is probably a fifty thousand KW/hour install. Enjoy.

Solar eclipse on Sunday May 20, 2012. The Sun was positioned quite low on the horizon for us in the Eastern Time Zone - the effect of which you can certainly see in the image.
Photographed through a Baader solar filter, 1/250th @ f/5.6, ISO 1600.
From the Solar Eclipse seen throughout most of the United States on August 21, 2017.
According to my camera's data, here are the specs for this photo:
two neutral density and UV lens filters; Manual Exposure Program; 1/4000 second shutter speed; ISO 100; ƒ/5.0; and a focal length of 55mm.
Except for resizing and a bit of cropping, this is an unedited photograph.
This picture shows how our solar panel can be propped up to face forward 45 degrees, sit flat, or lock against the trailer roof facing backwards at a 45 degree angle.

Solar energy systems provide power in even the most remote rural areas in India. The systems are installed and maintained by people from the local community trained by the Barefoot College.
MISSISSIPPI COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE HAS PASSIVE-SOLAR ARCHITECTURE AND ACTIVE SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM.
THE COLLEGE IS GOING TO USE A CONCENTRATING PHOTOVOLTAIC COLLECTOR SYSTEM TO PROVIDE BOTH ELECTRICITY AND THERMAL HEAT. BECAUSE THE CONCENTRATED SUNLIGHT RAISES THE TEMPERATURE OF THE SOLAR CELLS, A FLUID MUST BE USED TO COOL THE CELLS TO KEEP THEM OPERATING EFFICIENTLY. HEAT FROM THE FLUID WILL BE RELEASED IN A HEAT EXCHANGER AND USED TO AS- SIST IN HEATING THE CLASSROOMS. TO COMPLEMENT THE PV SYSTEM, THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF THE BUILDINGS WILL EMPLOY SUCH ENERGY CONSERVING MEASURES AS SOUTH-FACING ORIENTATION,NATURAL VENTILATION, SHADING DEVICES, DAY LIGHTING, INSULATION, THERMAL MASS, AND AN OVERALL ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.THE SCHOOL BEGAN ENROLLING STUDENTS IN THE FALL OF 1980.

This nudibranch (Phyllodesmium longicirra) is known as the "solar powered" nudibranch. This remarkable slug is able to ingest green algae without completely digesting it. The chloroplasts (intracellular organelles which conduct photosynthesis) are retained and stored in the spots on the cerata. These "power plants" continue producing sugars which the nudibranch is able to use. It is one of the largest nudibranches i have ever seen, and apparently not entirely common.
Brookhaven National Laboratory scientist examining a vial containing a specialized catalyst designed to help convert solar energy into fuel.
Producing clean-burning hydrogen fuel from just sunlight and water requires custom-built catalysts for water oxidation-the part of the water-splitting process that generates oxygen atoms. A tiny amount of the solid catalyst, developed in collaboration with the University of Houston, dissolves and turns the water that lovely shade of blue.
