Partial solar eclipse on 29th April 2014, as viewed from Brisbane, Australia. This is a stack of images taken about 3 minutes apart. This image was selected as NASA's "Astronomy Picture of the Day" for 1st May 2014. See apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap140501.html.
It was also published in the book "Totality: The Great American Eclipses of 2017 and 2024" by Mark Littman and Fred Espenak (2017, Oxford University Press), and in the Czech popular astronomy journal Astropis (volume 2/2014).
This image won an Honourable Mention award at the 2014 David Malin Awards, which is the premier astrophotography competition in Australia. Details here:

Here's the clock disassembled, except for the mechanisms, and the arbors that won't come out because of the rusty set screws.
The black trim on the dial/frame is actually a big rubber gasket with three holes. Together with the rubber seal on the back, it serves to make the clock pretty waterproof (though not this example).
Yesterday, i was invited to visit David McConville's amazing Geodome in his wonderful home here in West Asheville. The inside of the dome was projected, from a single macbook, a map of our known space outside Earth. The progression of moving back from the earth to the edge of the universe was a process - complete with informative monologue from David - was a total mind blower.
The progression is in the next 10 photographs, but the scale and gorgeousness of the entire process was amazing.
This is our solar system with the paths (relative in size) of the inner planets, outer planets and that blue thing we call pluto.
Progress of the eclipse. The first six pictures are spaced roughly ten minutes apart. The last six cover a total period of about 7 minutes. The penultimate one shows the moment of annularity, and the last one is (fairly) close to center.
This picture shows how our solar panel can be propped up to face forward 45 degrees, sit flat, or lock against the trailer roof facing backwards at a 45 degree angle.
In July 2012, Activ Solar completed 42.95 MW Starkozache power, the first photovoltaic project completed by Activ Solar in Odessa Oblast (Ukraine). The Starokozache Power Station is installed over a surface of 80 hectares (200 acres) and consists of 185,952 multi-crystalline solar modules and 41 inverters. The solar plant will generate 54.106 GWh of electricity per annum, enough to supply approximately 11,000 households and saves up to 44,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

SOLAR POWER PROVIDES HOT WATER AND HEAT FOR THIS HOME IN SHENANDOAH, GEORGIA.
SUNLIGHT COLLECTORS ON THE ROOF OF THIS HOUSE HEAT WATER WHICH FLOWS INTO A 1,000 GALLON STORAGE TANK IN THE BASEMENT. A FAN-COIL SYSTEM IN THE DUCT WORK TRANSFERS HEAT FROM THE WATER INTO THE ROOMS. THE COSTS OF THE SOLAR EQUIPMENT IN THE 1,200 SQ. FT. HOME WERE COVERED BY A GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT SO THAT THE HOME COULD BE PRICED THE SAME AS SIMILAR MODELS.

Solar energy systems provide power in even the most remote rural areas in India. The systems are installed and maintained by people from the local community trained by the Barefoot College.
Solar innovations created in Engineering 215 - Renewable energy. Six teams from Lonny Grafman’s Engineering 215 course at Cal Poly Humboldt have designed and constructed innovative photovoltaic (solar) projects for the Appropedia Foundation.
Brookhaven National Laboratory scientist examining a vial containing a specialized catalyst designed to help convert solar energy into fuel.
Producing clean-burning hydrogen fuel from just sunlight and water requires custom-built catalysts for water oxidation-the part of the water-splitting process that generates oxygen atoms. A tiny amount of the solid catalyst, developed in collaboration with the University of Houston, dissolves and turns the water that lovely shade of blue.

PNNL’s thermochemical conversion device is installed in front of a concentrating solar power dish. The device converts natural gas into the more energy-rich fuel syngas, which power plants can burn to use less fuel and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
