Thomisus is a genus of crab spiders (family Thomisidae) with more than 100 species described. The genus includes species that vary widely in their ecology, but the best known crab spiders are those species that people call the flower crab spiders, because they are ambush predators that feed on insects visiting flowers.
The flower crab spiders are the species for which the popular name was coined, because of their crab-like motion and their way of holding their front legs in an attitude reminiscent of a crab spreading its claws as a threat.
The crab spiders are mostly brightly colored, usually matching the color of the flower in which they are waiting in ambush. Not all species are flower-dwelling, but among those that are, at least some species can change their colour over a period of some days to match the flower colour.
** I stumbled upon this tiny crab spider when I was out taking photographs of butterfly. You can check out the two images under my comments to see how it captured the blue glassy butterfly which was way much bigger in size!
Life lesson learnt from nature :
It's not the size that matters :-)
I let the butterfly go and what you see on my main pic is a grumpy spider without dinner !

A pair of cyclists passing through Shoreham - the guy in black was overtaking. I'm sure both were enjoying the smooth, recently laid new surface

A member of the cashew family, this sour fruit is edible and can be chewed to quench thirst or prepared into a drink similar to lemonade--I have yet to try either but I'm game. Also a valuable wildlife food for many birds and small mammals.
It was a smooth day on Puget Sound and this kyaker and his partner in a canoe were enjoying their boating experience.
Smooth Greensnake photographed at Trustom Pond National Wildlife Refuge in South Kingstown, RI on 31 October 2021.
A pair of smooth side engines in the Loco Yard at the MMC. Odd how the P40DC received the corrugated speed stripes found on the PL42AC. It would have looked much nicer if it received the same as the ALP46 (which can be seen coupled behind it).
Smooth Moves, Inside - A close look into a huge pile of wood stockpiled for winter heating, New Mexico. My friend Tom pointed out the color, pattern and sheen of the bare wood split open from bark and branches. Wow, just think what a wood crafter could do with these chunks of "media"!
Taken 14/05/22 and a very précised history of ‘Eddystone’:
1946 Built at Brighton Works as No. 21C 28, an air smoothed Bulleid Light Pacific, by the Southern Railway.
1948 Renumbered No. 34028 by British Railways on the nationalisation of the railways
1958 Rebuilt by BR, including the removal of the air smoothed casing.
1964 Withdrawn and sent to Barry Scrapyard where it languished for 22 years.
1986 After purchase by the Southern Pacific Rescue Group the loco moved to Sellinge in Kent to be restored.
2003 Cutting a very long story short, the loco now based in Dorset returned to steam on the Swanage railway.
2014 The loco was withdrawn for overhaul
2021 After a fast track overhaul No. 34028 returned to action on the Swanage Railway
This is another shot from Kynance Cove in Cornwall. It has to be one of the best beaches i've ever been to, a really nice peaceful place.
