This red tailed hawk had taken off from a tall perch, and was making slow circles over the area. Near Commonwealth Lake.
A hooded merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) drake on calm water. It was a treat for us to have this first sighting of this species. (They are not particularly rare - we just hadn't been looking in the right place and time.)

This barn sitting in a wheat field reminds me of a ship at sea. A huge wave of earth approaching.

Coastal reflections, a sea swell filled with ripples, sunlight and a calm pastel sea allows you to enjoy a relaxing seascape and a smooth passage.
This storm was preceded by spectacular altocumulus asperitas clouds. Some of the smooth structures are still visible in this photo as well.
The thunderstorm was a joy to behold and photograph.
An amazing night at New Brighton earlier in the year. I usually leave a lot before it gets this dark but I got chatting to a local and stuck around. Apologise for yet another lighthouse shot but we had such a great night.

The smooth helmeted iguana is named for the prominent casque, or crest on the back of its head and neck which has the appearance of a helmet.

One of my floribunda roses for Spring, 2026.
This one is called 'Slim Dusty' which is quite a silly name for such a lovely rose. Slim Dusty was one of Australia's most boring musicians. In fact, he was the MOST boring. I hated all his music and turned off the radio if any of this 'songs' were played. Annoyingly someone has named a rose after this terrible singer.

After a long day working ... noticed that after two days of 50 MPH and then 30 MPH winds and sunny days, that clouds rolled in as the day was nearing an end and the winds died down to nothing.
Checked the radar and the passing front left behind a band of clouds over the Baltimore region ... and it was slowly dissipating.
I called my Dad about 40 minutes before sunset and asked if the river was smoothed out. He said it was nearly a mirror.
So I grabbed the camera gear and made a quick trip down to Middle River to see if Election Night would have some fireworks.
The conditions were great with the two days of strong winds out of the northwest resulted in a real low tide, so was able to get under some of the piers.
Here just as the sun set, the colors were golden and just beginning. The fireworks followed for about 20 minutes or more, so I ended up taking 75 captures from all kinds of perspectives given the reflections, clouds and low tide conditions.
