It was a smooth day on Puget Sound and this kyaker and his partner in a canoe were enjoying their boating experience.
A pair of smooth side engines in the Loco Yard at the MMC. Odd how the P40DC received the corrugated speed stripes found on the PL42AC. It would have looked much nicer if it received the same as the ALP46 (which can be seen coupled behind it).
Smooth Moves, Inside - A close look into a huge pile of wood stockpiled for winter heating, New Mexico. My friend Tom pointed out the color, pattern and sheen of the bare wood split open from bark and branches. Wow, just think what a wood crafter could do with these chunks of "media"!
Got a few Inktense pencils so thought I would try these flowers. Very fun and addictive- think I will get some more colours and I need to practice getting the colours smoother. This was done on Neenah cardstock but I think watercolour paper is better
This is another shot from Kynance Cove in Cornwall. It has to be one of the best beaches i've ever been to, a really nice peaceful place.

The shores of Lake Mendota are slowly beginning to freeze, suggesting that winter is setting in for good. The calm waters and long exposure really isolate the ice-covered rocks. Next week these same waters will probably be completely frozen over.
One of Marwell's penguins swimming underwater. I always think that penguins have a slightly clumsy, awkward movement on land but in water they are agile and elegant, twisting and turning with ease.

River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme.
These images were taken during the third full week of July, 2016.
We took a trip down to the Harbour area, just to acquaint ourselves with the works here. This is a section of the flood protection scheme that I have pretty much ignored -- it's inconvenient for me to access, and others cover it much better.
Moving upriver slightly, to a newly constructed walkway, close to Seapoint Court. Nice work done by the guys from Wills Bros Ltd.
However the cynic in me wonders how long it will be before the local druggies shift locations. Although, perhaps it's a wee bit too exposed for them?
In the foreground is the Railway bridge, and in the distance we can see some construction works taking place on the Ravenswell Road, temporarily closed due to on-going works.
That is the site of the old Bray Golf Club -- hotly contested as a (potentially) poorly considered site for a shopping centre development complex, and still an area of ground that has to act as a flood plain in the event of tidal surges.

This Sheet Piled Retaining wall was then clad with Granite Randon Rubble stone and resulted in an impressive 5.0m high stone wall along the river. A reinforced concrete flood defence wall complete with stone cladding was also constructed as well as erosion protection measures including underpinning and rock armour installation within the river during low tides. The scheme was completed with the construction of a footpath complete with railings and street lighting along the entire length."

Smooth Blue Beardtongue adds beautiful colour to hillsides here. Sometimes, you see a plant that has a lot more pink/purple, but this is a very blue one. It gets its name from the sterile stamen (staminode) which is covered in hairs.
I've always wanted to try one of these long exposure shots that would produce smooth silky water, so I tried it out when I went to Woodbine Beach and set out to find some boulders to do the shot on. It's not perfect but its a start! I would've preferred the water to have been smoother but the water was too wavy to get a perfectly smooth surface (could have also probably set to a longer shutter but I was running out of light and didn't get a chance to try it out).

That morning was calm, soft waves after the case of the low tide ,with the softly diffuse light, on one of the beaches of Kuwait, it was a great time in photography.
كان ذلك الصباح هادئاً , بأمواج ناعمة بعد حالة الجزر, وضوء منتشر بنعومة , على أحد شواطيء الكويت , كان وقتاً ممتعاً في التصوير الفوتوغرافي.

Smooth Snake , I was passing the Smooth Snake spot on way to walk the dog so couldn't resist a quick look as sun was out & he /she was out again!...Nov 1st..
As time goes by the light gets softer and the sea smoother. This is an 8 second exposure.
Hope you're not getting tired of these!
