I found that one of my lenses for my DSLR had a macro function. I mounted it on an old Sony A100 and tried it. I should have used my A700. It's a better camera.
I used a very sharp knife to cut this pepper. It had no guard near the handle end of the blade. Yes, I managed to knick myself on it.
Leftovers from Slice in NYC. Mozzarella Daiya, mushrooms, pesto, and spinach on thin herbed crust. Yum!
My Craigslist bargain--a circa 1940 Hobart deli slicer. A bit of solvent on the seized parts, some soap and water to clean it up and it's practically brand new again.
ODC - "floating"
I have had these candles for years! I finally am getting to use them! I had a tiny bit of time on my hands and am trying to catch up all in the midst of painting our entire house, on the inside. While I was painting the guest bathroom, I thought of this. It literally only took me about an hour to paint the bathroom, coating twice. I have to go to bed at some point!! So, this is simply a clear bowl, my bathroom counter, a floating orange (yes in color and the fruit) candle and myself and my camera. Take a slice of life!!

This is the variety of eggplants or baigans that they use in Guyana for choka, because they have less seeds. They are a little past their prime and I decided to make baiganis out of them. Sliced eggplant, dipped in a thick yellow split pea batter and deep fried. Serve with some spicy mango or tamarind chutney.
In honour of Ramadan, as this is one of those delicacies found at a Trini iftar (breaking of the fast) in mosques. I used to hate these because I hated baigan, but I learned the error of my ways.
He Slices! He Dices! He disembowels mices!
OK, he doesn't disembowel mice, but I couldn't think of a good rhyme with Dices. I thought of Vices, but that's no better. Thrices is just too contrived.
Any better ideas?
That's right, I sliced it right down the center next. It takes a good saw for this, do not try at home.
Slice of Paradise
A very short vertical stitch of the beach at Waialea Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii, Hawaii, USA
For World Wide KAP Week 2013, I've disabled the video hardware on my rig. Unfortunately I forgot all the lessons I'd learned about how best to focus the Canon T2i in the air when NOT using video feedback.
Of all the photos I made at Waialea Bay, this was the only one that really worked out well.
Tomorrow, more care with focus! (Thank goodness World Wide KAP Week is a whole week long!)

Fruit and Seed Slice.
Made by my mum.
(It's a bit dark in the foreground but it's so hard to get perfect lighting in my house!)
