slicing stale bread for pain perdu
made it into a dessert for mother's day
this bread was dessert for 5 people....bread coated in egg and milk and lemon zest and juice soaked overnight and then griddle cooked like french toast and topped with homemade strawberry syrup (smashed strawberries with a little lemon juice and sugar left to macerate all day) then a small dollop of homemade ice cream

Sliced apples are dipped in a basic fritter batter, cooked, and served warm dusted with cinnamon sugar or icing sugar.
Since we were already at Denninger's we also got everyone a little treat for later. Since everyone was so brave :)
Slicing some off the lean end. We ended up doing 1.5 lbs of lean and half a pound of fatty. We thought it would be enough for our barbecue-battered senses and appetites. We were wrong.

Instead of an Easter ham, we decided to make Easter Spam.
This is my first can of Spam, ever. It took me a while to figure out how to get it out of the can (I used a butter knife).
Using my extraordinary powers of eyeball measurement, I sliced these all to exactly 3/8" thick.
