Tonight for dinner we grabbed a slice of NYC traditional pizza. These slices are big, flat and very tasty. You can also add parmesan cheese, chilli and oregano on top
This small slice of environmental heaven is located in Martinez, Georgia, Columbia County. The pond, surrounding pines, and beautiful wooded areas provide a natural habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians, and small animals including raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, possum, and even the occasional smelly, but friendly, white-striped skunk.
Our property faces the Waterbrook pond directly from the northwest corner. Dawn has made both our front and back yards into attractive, inviting garden sanctuaries for birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife. Her garden sanctuaries compliment the natural surroundings of the pond, creek, and forest and blend in nicely with the natural landscape.
Recent additions to the Waterbrook habitat include 11 ducklings (pictured on our National Wildlife Federation’s “Wildlife Gardens Group” photostream), one gosling born to two of our four Canadian Geese, a large Blue Heron, and a small Green Heron (not yet shown). Each spring and summer the Waterbrook pond fills with turtles and frogs, hummingbirds visit regularly, and the neighborhood children get to see and appreciate nature from their backyards in a relaxed, quiet, and friendly setting.
Other birds that frequent our habitat include Robins, Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, Black-Capped Chickadees, Blue Jays, Grackles, American Goldfinches, Red House Finches, Brown Thrashers, Gray Catbirds, the Tufted Titmouse, Mourning Doves, Mockingbirds, Downy Woodpeckers, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, the occasional Red-headed woodpecker, the Brown-headed Nuthatch, and Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.
Waterbrook Pond has a wide variety of ducks and geese that also frequent our neighborhood properties and gardens and in the evenings 5 or 6 Little Brown Bats come out to feed.
We hope to include more photos, as the summer progresses. In the meantime the Waterbrook Garden Habitat and Sanctuaries are here to stay! :)

This galley-and-slice was made by my friend Stan Nelson, in the style of the seventeenth century. It is beautifully made of oak, with the edge moulding attached to the base with oak pegs.
Installed in 2000 as part of the Millennium Experience, and never uninstalled - even though the Millennium Experience wanted it to be - because it was out of their jurisdiction and the artist had obtained mooring rights.
For Twitter Photo Challenge #45: Shadow. I don't have time to think up really new ideas this week, as I have an absurdly hectic work week in front of me -- just to get things done before going to Australia on vacation (I guess there'll be photos here...)
So I started thinking of things I had done before which I could try again. A year ago I took a similar (but, in the end, very different) version of this sliced apple motive. I was lucky with the sunlight then. Not this time, so I had to emulate window light with flash today. But I had fun while doing it.

A little slice of life. First you have the tourists on the left. Then you have the dad with his two kids heading home after ice skating on the square. Skates on the handlebars, kids hopping up on the bike and, a moment later, the dad pushing the bike along with the kids on board.
